Star Croft is a peaceful and cosy cottage in the Northern Highlands, ideal for dog owners and those seeking a quiet retreat with beautiful surroundings. Guests have praised the friendly and helpful host, comfortable accommodation, and the ample walking space. While most found the location serene and the cottage well-equipped, some noted access challenges for certain vehicles and areas for improvement in cleanliness and maintenance.
While many guests did not comment on cleanliness, one detailed review highlighted issues with cleanliness, including dead insects, mould, and a dirty shower head, suggesting room for improvement.
The location is generally appreciated for its peace and natural beauty, with plenty of walking areas. However, concerns were raised about the accessibility of the cottage via a rough track, which may not be suitable for all vehicles.
Guests have described the cottage as comfortable and cosy, with a warm welcome and a restful atmosphere. The beds were praised for their comfort, although one guest mentioned low sofas that were less suitable for those with arthritis.
The property is seen as well-equipped and spacious, but some guests reported maintenance issues such as a loose toilet seat, ineffective flush, overgrown garden, and non-functioning lights, indicating a need for attention to facilities.
There are no mentions of gifts or special thoughtful touches provided by the host in the reviews, so it is not possible to assess this category.

The mattress slopped to the right so could be doing with getting a new one. The cottage was in a perfect location and was very spacious with everything that you could want for a lovely getaway. The cottage was very clean and i loved that there was no neighbours i would definitely go back and the owner was very nice. My dog loved it also. We did love our stay there.

Friendly, helpful host, who gave advice on lovely walks in the area. The cottage is comfortable & cosy, with everything you need. Extremely peaceful location, with plenty room for our dogs to play. Perfect for us. Restful, relaxing & quiet, just what we were looking for.

Star Croft was what we needed. There is an almost mile long rough track up to the cottage but most vehicles would be fine traversing it if they do so at a low speed. We loved how isolated the property was...so peaceful. Even saw the Northern Lights. The sofas are a little low in the living room for someone with arthritis but I sat on a couple of cushions that rectified that. The beds were really comfy and there's a brilliant TV for the evenings. We will definitely use here again. Liz was so friendly and helpful. Thanks!!
