About this property

If you’re looking to celebrate a special occasion with a group of friends or family with thoughtfully arranged special requests catered to, as well as the opportunity to enjoy a private whisky tasting masterclass brought specially to you, look no further than Orrinside for a truly tailor-made getaway. Lying on the outskirts of the village of Muir of Ord, Orrinside is a lovingly-renovated holiday home with years of family history of everything Scottish, offering a spacious setting for a group getaway to the Scottish Highlands, including beautiful tartan carpets to welcome you as you step into the hallway. The house is prime location for shooting and fishing pursuits as near the river Conon and nearby shooting estates, not to mention the great Muir of Ord golf course, so is a perfect base from which everyone can enjoy their favourite activities. Boasting stylish and contemporary furnishings throughout, this attractive stone-built house exudes luxury and whisky paraphernalia from the family’s extensive knowledge and over 50 years of experience with everything whisky – at the bottom of the garden is a small burn that feeds into a dam that is used for making the whisky at Glen Ord Distillery. Accessibility has been considered at this property, with a portable deaf alerter system, a wheelchair ramp for entry and level slabs to the rear for easy access. The open-plan living space is complete with a well-designed kitchen with an array of impressive appliances including an AGA and a spacious dining table and a sociable sitting area with a woodburning stove together creating the perfect space to entertain friends and family. A separate sitting room can be found resting across the way and hosts another woodburning stove, perfect for those cold winter nights as you cosy up to loved ones for a night in front of the TV. Open up the patio doors and take the evening out onto the decking, indulging in a fantastic feast courtesy of the barbecue and wood-fired oven, before grabbing your swimsuits and enjoying a dip in the hot tub – towelling robes and disposable slippers will be provided, so just grab a flute of chilled bubbly from the fridge and toast to your loved ones in style! Rinse yourself off in the handy wet room, grabbing your towel and retreating to the ground-floor king-size bedroom (which has the below very apt Robert Burns quote on the wall) – with all bathrooms benefitting from underfloor heating, you’re sure to dry off and get cosy for bed in no time. Venture up the staircase and discover a beautiful family bathroom featuring a roomy tub and a walk-in shower, as well as three gorgeous bedrooms consisting of a double, a king-size and a master benefitting from a super king-size and its very own en-suite. Take a scenic woodland walk through the RSPB Tollie Red Kites Natural Reserve, spotting majestic birds as you embrace the magnificent scenery. Travel to Garve to see the wonderful Black Water Falls, or take a stroll along Moray Firth on a trip to Avoch Beach. Spend the day in the city of Inverness and explore the imposing 18th Century castle, before admiring the grand architecture of the Redstone Cathedral. Be at one with nature at Merkinch Local Nature Reserve or travel deeper into the highlands for an exhilarating hike through the countryside. Tour the nearby 17th Century fortress of Kilcoy Castle and see the picturesque ruins of the Beauly Priory, before heading over to the Bad Girl Bakery in Muir Of Ord for some gorgeous baked goods and a hot drink. Lose yourself as you wander through the ancient Touchstone Maze or head down to the ruins of Urquhart Castle that rest peacefully on the famous Loch Ness. In the northern highlands, barley from the Black Isle meets water from the White Burn to make a Scotch of vibrant colour: The Singleton of Glen Ord – the Black Isle is a peninsula that gets its name from its rich, fertile soil and the land had been in the possession of the MacKenzie family for nearly 700 years when Thomas MacKenzie chose the site for his distillery in 1838. Take a tour to find out more, and taste oaky whisky at the Glen Ord Distillery (literally a rugby ball’s throw from Orrinside) before grabbing a delicious dinner from the selection of takeaways, hotels and bars, in Muir of Ord or Beauly, and heading back to this fabulous home-away-from-home. There's everything here for a perfect family retreat; little ones have not been forgotten about, with thought having gone into children as well – we believe it’s the small things that make a difference. For the ultimate holiday to Scotland, be sure to book a stay at Orrinside and let the housekeeper know of any special requests for your celebration, to add that extra sparkle to your holiday. "Wherever I wander, Wherever I rove, The Hills of the Highlands, Forever I love" - Robert Burns.

Hot tub and pizza oven were put to good use. Would definitely recommend and definitely visit again.

So much room for everyone even if you were a party of 8. The road by the house was extremely quiet, we saw more runners than cars! And although the garden is not fully enclosed, we had no problems with letting our dogs loose as there's plenty of grass for them to enjoy and the road outside is not visible from the garden so no distractions. Peaceful and luxurious, we wouldn't hesitate to return.

Would recommend and it was like home from home. Our party of 7 ranged from 3 to 90. Our dog loved the garden and the our grandson loved the 'hotpot' - hot tub. Thank you to Emma and the team
