Head to the village of Invergarry to explore the impressive castle, the village also hosts a store to ease your self-catered stay and the local Invergarry Hotel where you can enjoy tasty pub food with a breath-taking view. Outdoor enthusiasts will be in their element as the Cairngorms National Park is just a scenic drive from the lodge and provides a plethora of walks and trails including more challenging hikes up Ben Macdui. Invergarry is a small village in a tranquil setting on the banks of the River Garry. In addition to a hotel and the ruins of Invergarry Castle, the village also features a pine forest. The Invergarry Highland Games are held annually on the first Saturday of July, and the Great Glen Way passes through the town, allowing hikers to go from Fort William to Inverness without using any roads. Fort Augustus, situated at the southwest end of Loch Ness, on a stretch of the Caledonian Canel, features a variety of shops, pubs, and restaurants, and the nearby cities of Fort William and Aviemore are also worth a visit.
