Greystones Cottage in Crieff offers a cosy, well-equipped stay with convenient access to local amenities and attractions. Guests appreciate the cleanliness, the quiet location, and the attentive owner. While some guests encountered issues with maintenance and cleanliness, the majority enjoyed their stay and would recommend the property.
Reviews are mixed regarding cleanliness. Some guests found the cottage very clean, while others reported issues with dust, grease, and a damp smell. The presence of a dirty kitchen and bathroom in one review significantly impacts the score.
The location is highly praised for being quiet and well-situated near shops and scenic walks, with easy access to Crieff town centre and surrounding areas. However, one guest had issues with parking and car interference.
Most guests found the cottage comfortable and cosy, with a well-equipped kitchen and comfortable beds. However, some noted issues with a cramped dining area and noisy central heating, slightly lowering the score.
Facilities are generally well-regarded, but several maintenance issues such as a broken washing machine, window cleanliness, and PAT testing compliance have been noted. The prompt resolution of a heating issue shows attentiveness.
There is no mention of gifts or special thoughtful touches provided by the host in the reviews, so it is not possible to assess this category.

Crieff, a famous tourist destination, is situated on the geological fault line where the Lowlands and Highlands meet, midway between Perth and Crianlarich. Crieff grew from its 16th- to 18th-century roots as a gathering point for cattle traders to suit the needs of a growing population in the Lowlands due to its strategic location. The gallows, a relic of Crieff's infamous reputation as a "frontier town" known for its penchant for executing criminals, can be seen today in Perth Museum. Most of Crieff was destroyed in a fire in 1716 by Highlanders returning from the demoralising Battle of Sheriffmuir, and the current town layout was planned by James Drummond, 3rd Duke of Perth in 1731. While Drummond was a supporter of the Jacobite Rebellion and hence opposed further fires, it was he who ultimately succeeded. In 1746, Bonnie Prince Charlie and his army remained in town, where they held meetings at the Drummond Arms Inn. Close to Crieff, you may visit the stunning public gardens at Drummond Castle. Crieff is now a thriving tourist destination, home to sites including the Caithness Glass Visitor Centre and the Glenturret Distillery's Famous Grouse Experience. Swimming, squash, and a fitness centre are just some of the activities available at the leisure centre. Golf at Crieff Golf Club or the nine-hole course in adjacent Comrie, or take in the breathtaking environment at the Auchingarrich Wildlife Centre. From Crieff, it's not hard to go to Loch Earn, where the Lochearnhead Watersports Centre and beautiful landscape can be found. Place of inspiration in the heart of Perthshire's breathtaking landscape.

But, we requested a stair gate as had 2 toddlers. Yes, a stair gate was provided but it did not fit at the bottom or the top of the stairs, making it as useful as the proverbial chocolate fireguard! Making our stay much less relaxing. Can I suggest retractable gates at the top AND bottom of the stairs which can remain in place and be used as required, widely available at Amazon or Argos. Also, the central heating would run quietly then would suddenly sound like a train running through the house for long periods of time. Otherwise all good

The advertised 'open fire' is out of use with the chimney stuffed with newspapers. The kitchen is greasy with dirty glasses and utencils. Dampness and damp smell everywhere. Wi dows running with water/dampness all the time. Grubby bathroom with black grime in shower area. Broken blinds inside the wardrobe. Dead bugs and dust behind beds. Whole property would benefit from deep clean. Baby's milky bottle top inside sittingroom cupboard. Dead bugs and debris under sitting room furniture. We are all very unwell due to staying in this horrendous property. Dehumidifier units throughout the property so the owners are aware of the damp issue quite clearly. We arrived Friday evening and Sykes Cottages were notified of concerns at 9.30am Saturday. Morning. We called Sykes again on Saturday afternoon but still no help. We finally received a call from Sykes on Sunday afternoon by which time we are all in bed ill. This cottage has made my family very ill not to mention the loss of a week's holiday. This is a DISGRACE!!!

Cleanliness and general maintenance should be improved. There was a layer of dust on the lamps, the top of a baby bottle was left in a cupboard. The windows at the front are desperately in need of both cleaning and maintenance. The old broken bedroom window blind was left in the wardrobe. We received a visit from the TV licensing folk advising that there was no TV licence for the property. Also, they have not complied with the Scottish Government legislation for holiday lets to have PAT testing of all electrical appliances.
