Guests say

Ciaran Cottage is praised for its stunning views, cleanliness, and dog-friendly environment. Guests appreciate the cosy atmosphere, especially the wood burner, and the welcome pack. While some guests mention issues with water pressure and appliance instructions, the owner's responsiveness to problems is noted. The cottage's location is ideal for exploring Scotland, with the nearby village of Kenmore and the beauty of Loch Tay.

The cottage receives high marks for cleanliness, with multiple reviews mentioning its tidy and well-kept condition. This suggests that guests consistently find the property to be clean upon arrival.

The location is highly regarded for its beautiful views and proximity to local attractions. However, some guests were surprised by the distance from the Loch and the steepness of the path to the cottage, slightly affecting the score.

Guests find the beds comfortable and the property cosy, but some have raised concerns about the size of the dining area and the comfort of the furniture, particularly for four adults or those with back issues.

While the property is well-equipped and guests are generally satisfied, there are several mentions of issues with water pressure, blocked showers, and a need for clearer instructions for appliances. The owner's helpfulness in resolving issues is noted.

The generous welcome pack is appreciated by guests, indicating thoughtfulness. However, as gifts are not guaranteed for every stay, this is mentioned with the understanding that such amenities are a bonus rather than an expectation.

The 16th-century town of Kenmore is located at the eastern extremity of Loch Tay, where the River Tay emerges from the loch. The village, which was initially built on the north side of the river, was relocated in the middle of the sixteenth century to make room for a castle being constructed on the north shore. The village was rebuilt, and as a result, received its current name, Kenmore, which means "big head" in Gaelic. Loch Tay, with its abundance of opportunities for watersports, fishing, hillwalking, and cycling, is what makes Kenmore such a well-liked tourist destination today. Visit the Scottish Crannog Center to see a recreated thatched cottage on stilts and learn about an ancient way of living. These dwellings, which were constructed on the loch and protected from danger by a retractable gangway, offer a fascinating look into past civilizations. The community has shops, a few hotels, and a restaurant, and the tourist is well-served by the adjacent charming towns of Aberfeldy, Pitlochry, and Dunkeld. The region is well known for its genuinely breathtaking landscape, and Kenmore can offer a lovely backdrop to a very relaxing holiday whether you are on the water, in the hills, or in the shops.

Ideally suited for 4 people with comfortable beds and very well equipped throughout. Water pressure can be a little intermittent but as long as you are not having long showers you will be fine. Lovely wood burner which was a treat on colder evenings. Main sofa is quite marked but covered with a throw which hides most of the marks.we could also have done with a wet mop to make sure any muddy footprints were dealt with promptly. All in all this was a fantastic find and we will most certainly return. Did contact the owner on one occasion and he was most helpful and pleasant.

Cottage was very clean and comfortable for me and my Labrador. Only issue I had was that the walk up to the cottage was a little steeper than I’d expected didn’t look that steep on pictures. Would have been fine if just me but my elderly Labrador did struggle. But would definitely recommend for a couple and those with a more mobile pooch. When I needed to contact the owners they we very quick to reply and extremely helpful could fault them. All in all had a lovely stay.

The path is steep, as has been mentioned, & for a couple in our late 60's, could be a bit slippy & sore on the knees. Another couple of things which were mentioned in your reviews:- there was a problem with the shower drain - we had to clean it out as it was really gunged up and the sofa & chair don't offer good support for older backs like ours but I'm sure they'll be fine for younger folks. The dyson vacuum was also packed full and looked like someone might have used it to clean out the shower drain - it had definately been used to suck up something wet and it was difficult to get the contents cleaned out. There were only instructions for using the heaters & nothing for how to use the oven, hob or dishwasher but when I phoned the owner, he was very helpful and told me how to work the dishwasher and said that he was working on instructions to leave in the cottage for guests. The listing says it's an induction hob but it's not - it's a ceramic hob and it takes a while to heat up. The water pressure (another thing previously mentioned) is really bad, so fill some jugs with cold water if you want to have cups of tea during the day without waiting ages to fill the kettle. There was no sieve or potato masher - which would have been useful. I don't like to give negative feedback but hopefully this is helpful and on the whole we liked the cottage (the bed was comfy) and the views are great. I'm sure a younger couple would be happy there. The area is lovely and it's well worth a visit to the Crannog Centre and to book a boat trip on the loch. The co-op in Aberfeldy is really good and the village shop in Kenmore is handy for topping up with things.
