The location is highly regarded, with guests appreciating the central position in Jedburgh, proximity to local attractions, and suitability as a base for exploring the Borders. The steep hill location is noted but does not detract significantly from the overall positive feedback.

This delightful, mid-terrace cottage lies just below the old Jedburgh Jail, in the historic town of Jedburgh, close to the Scotland and England border. Ideal for families or groups of friends, Castlebrae is a charming treat, providing a lovely base to call home while exploring South Scotland. After finding a roadside parking space, step into the entrance hallway before discovering the sitting room, presented with two plush sofas and a Smart TV, so you can enjoy cosy movie nights after a long day. Move into the bright and airy kitchen/diner, uplifted by natural light with windows on all sides, this is a delightful space for some home-cooking. Serve the fruits of your labour at the dining table, before popping open a bottle of wine and toasting to a long-awaited getaway with loved ones. Take the evening outside to the large, enclosed garden, where you can sit at the garden bench and enjoy the last of day’s sun, admiring the wild shrubbery and rural views. As you begin to tire, there are three well-presented bedrooms to choose from, including two doubles and a twin, each with neutral furnishings and plenty of storage space. Prepare for the day in either the shower room or quirky bathroom, before venturing into the town centre in search of local attractions. Pick your pick from a selection of restaurants, pubs and cafés for something to eat, or browse the shops in the colourful renovated buildings in the Market Place and Canongate. Overlooking the town is the wonderful 12th century Jedburgh Abbey, with many artefacts and archaeological finds, it offers an insight into life before the abbey. Explore a little further afield and take a trip to the Ale Water Valley, which is nestled between Selkirk, Hawick and Jedburgh; it offers a plethora of outdoor activities such as cycling, horse riding, golf and more. The historical capital of Edinburgh is 50 miles away, offering a city skyline, cobbled streets and wonderful attractions, it would make a great day trip. Consider Castlebrae for a memorable getaway with loved ones. EPC Rating: Band D
