This contemporary cottage is six miles north of Stornoway on the Isle of Lewis. Brevig View sleeps six people in three bedrooms, a short walk from a small shop and a friendly cafe in Vatisker and about half a mile from the coast. It's an incredible holiday home made even more special with high-quality finishings, environmental features, and floor-to-ceiling windows that make the most of the fantastic views over the Minch to the mainland. There's storage for bikes, an outdoor picnic area, and all of the features you want for a self-catering break for a couple or a family.
Brevig View Cottage is a heavenly Hebridean holiday home with views over the Minch to the mainland. Everything about this architect-designed property has been carefully considered, from the size of the windows to the type of materials and the use of solar panels and air source heating to reduce its carbon footprint. Brevig View is on the Isle of Lewis, on the edge of Vatisker village and only a short walk from a small shop and a cafe. The cottage has everything couples and families need to enjoy a fantastic self-catering escape, including space for six people in three bedrooms and a sheltered picnic spot.
If you have never been to the Outer Hebrides, you might think all the hype over its pristine landscape is exaggerated. Trust us. It's not. If anything, it's difficult to explain in words just how spectacular the scenery is. Wander along the softest white sand as you gaze out over azure waters to tree-covered islands rich in flora and fauna. The warming effect of the Gulf Stream means that, even though you're on the same latitude as Norway, the temperatures can be similar to those in Cornwall. It's easy to appreciate why the Outer Hebrides is considered the last remaining wilderness in Britain.
Hill walking and cycling are fantastic ways to explore The Isle of Lewis. The scenery is so good that even driving the seven miles to Stornoway is memorable. You can hire a bicycle in Stornoway if you don't have your own, storing bikes and other sports equipment in the garden shed. The Hebridean Way is two paths - one for walking and the other for cycling, that stretch 185 miles from Lewis to Vatersay. It takes about 15 minutes to walk from the cottage to Brevig Harbour and miles of deserted beaches. The lighthouses at Arnish Point and Tiumpan Head are between 20 and 30 minutes drive. Other local attractions are Lewis Castle, Museum Nan Eilean, and St Columbus Chapel.
