Guests say

Bro Dawel, a cottage in Beaumaris, Anglesey, is praised for its excellent location, cleanliness, and the provision of essential amenities. Guests appreciate its proximity to local attractions and the added convenience of a private parking space. While some find the decor dated, the property's charm and the responsiveness of the staff contribute to a pleasant stay.

The property is consistently described as clean and tidy, with several guests noting its spotless condition. However, a few comments about cobwebs and the need for garden maintenance slightly affect the score.

The location is highly praised for being close to the town centre, with easy access to pubs, restaurants, and attractions like the castle. The availability of a parking space is frequently mentioned as a significant advantage.

Guests find the property to be generally comfortable, with new appliances noted. However, several reviews mention outdated decor and uncomfortable seating, which impacts the comfort score.

Facilities are adequate, with mentions of a well-equipped kitchen and essential appliances. Criticisms include the lack of Wi-Fi, dated furniture, and the need for maintenance on items like the cooker and windows.

There is insufficient information regarding any thoughtful gestures such as gifts, and therefore this category cannot be scored. No reviews mention gifts or special touches that would indicate thoughtfulness from the property owners.

Beaumaris is a well known historic town on the Isle of Anglesey situated on the Menai Strait and overlooking the Snowdonia mountain range, making for the most stunning of sunrises. With its medieval castle (now a World Heritage site) dating back to the reign of Edward I and its Victorian pier, gaol and courthouse, it is also known as a major centre for yachting. Beaumaris is rich in history and retains much of its medieval street pattern. It’s setting, diversity of architectural styles and periods, differing scale, open spaces, varying roofs and overall quality contribute greatly to the town’s character. There is a good selection of shops, restaurants and public houses, as well as fishing opportunities and boat trips in the town, plus a golf course nearby. Along the coast is a large bay called Red Wharf Bay; its Welsh name is Traeth Coch (Red Beach) and the area is renowned for its glorious sunsets. The bay is very shallow and at low tide, almost 25 square kilometres (10 sq. mi.) of sand is uncovered providing safe bathing, perfect for wonderful family fun, fishing and miles of stunning scenic walks. Further afield is the port of Holyhead, which has regular ferry links to Dublin. Beaumaris is a good central base for touring Wales, in a beautiful location on the south coast of the picturesque Isle of Anglesey, within easy reach of the spectacular mountains of Snowdonia.

There were things that could have been better. The TV in the living room was inoperative, WIFI would have been nice, although we knew that was an issue before we booked. The keybox was a little troublesome, it would have benefitted from a sofa rather than 4 rather upright chairs. The light didn't work in the downstairs toilet / utility room and the clock on the mantlepiece being stopped and without a key to wind, added to the feeling of needing a little bit of attention. The hedge alongside the rear parking bay could also do with a trim to make it easier to get a car in and out. As I say though, it was clean, well located and value for money so we were happy enough.

Parking at the rear of the property was difficult and very tight, also on a one way street so finding the right turn was difficult. The village is fantastic and worth a visit.

The gas fire was not working so I had to use an electric fire which I carried down from the bedroom. No broadband which was a big disappointment and very limited TV channels, I am a widow and was on my first holiday since my husband passed away so don't go out in the evening and just looked forward to watching some television but none of my usual channels were available. I am only referring to basic Freeview channels such as Ch.4, Ch.5, ITV 3 for example. No sofa as mentioned in the property details just 4 'care home' style armchairs. Taps on the washbasin in the bathroom very stiff to turn on or off and the hot water just a trickle. Although I was able to go out each day the evenings were very depressing with no broadband or decent TV to occupy the hours on my own. Also great care has to be taken accessing the private parking space as this is at the back of the property down a narrow and very potholed lane.
