Oyster Cottage in Beaumaris offers a unique and characterful experience with its historical charm and a garden that provides stunning views. Guests appreciate the generous welcome hamper and the property's proximity to the seafront and town amenities. While some find the cottage's quirkiness endearing, others note areas for improvement, particularly in maintenance and modern comforts.
The cleanliness of Oyster Cottage receives mixed reviews. Some guests find it immaculate, while others report the need for a deeper clean, mentioning cobwebs and dust. The presence of both positive and negative comments leads to a slightly above-average score.
The location of Oyster Cottage is highly praised for being central and just a short walk from the seafront, contributing to a high score. Its proximity to local amenities and attractions in Beaumaris makes it an ideal base for exploring Anglesey.
Comfort levels at the cottage are generally well-regarded, with spacious main bedrooms and a well-equipped kitchen. However, concerns about the small third bedroom, dated sofas, and the size of the shower room suggest room for improvement, resulting in a good but not excellent score.
Facilities at Oyster Cottage are appreciated, such as the hot tub and welcome hamper, but issues with Wi-Fi, entertainment systems, and maintenance detract from the overall experience. The need for updates in certain areas, particularly the shower room, affects the score.
The thoughtfulness of the host is evident in the welcome hamper mentioned by several guests, which adds a personal touch to their stay. However, as not all reviews mention gifts and there is no guarantee of such gestures for future guests, the score reflects this uncertainty.

The original features and period furniture from the 17th Century gives the feeling of stepping back in time with the added value of modern facilities. The owner has designed the furnishing of this house so thoughtfully and it has so many unique features.

The seating area has comfortable sofas set around a log burner. There is also a flat screen TV. The dining area is beautifully furnished with seating for six or more.

To the rear of the house there is a private, enclosed garden with garden furniture, subtle lighting, decking and seating areas and hot tub. Views of the rolling countryside over to mountain and sea can be seen from the upper decking and seating area. There is on road parking.
Guests are advised that as the hot tubs need to be cleaned and emptied for each new set of guests, the water may not be fully up to temperature on the first evening of their stay.
Oyster Cottage is deceptively spacious and very cosy with central heating, clever lighting and fireside seating. It is within easy walking distance of pubs, restaurants and interesting shops in Beaumaris, as well as the famous moated castle, the Gaol and, of course, the lovely Green on the banks of the Menai Strait.
Beaumaris is a well known historic town on the Isle of Anglesey situated on the Menai Strait and overlooking the Snowdonia mountain range, making for the most stunning of sunrises. With its medieval castle (now a World Heritage site) dating back to the reign of Edward I and its Victorian pier, gaol and courthouse, it is also known as a major centre for yachting. Beaumaris is rich in history and retains much of its medieval street pattern. It’s setting, diversity of architectural styles and periods, differing scale, open spaces, varying roofs and overall quality contribute greatly to the town’s character. There is a good selection of shops, restaurants and public houses, as well as fishing opportunities and boat trips in the town, plus a golf course nearby. Along the coast is a large bay called Red Wharf Bay; its Welsh name is Traeth Coch (Red Beach) and the area is renowned for its glorious sunsets. The bay is very shallow and at low tide, almost 25 square kilometres (10 sq. mi.) of sand is uncovered providing safe bathing, perfect for wonderful family fun, fishing and miles of stunning scenic walks. Further afield is the port of Holyhead, which has regular ferry links to Dublin. Beaumaris is a good central base for touring Wales, in a beautiful location on the south coast of the picturesque Isle of Anglesey, within easy reach of the spectacular mountains of Snowdonia.

The cottage is quirky and unique, with lots of original features and steeped in history. It was well equipped with plenty of towels, fully stocked kitchen and firewood. The beds are comfy and plenty of wardrobe space, the smaller bedroom is on the small side and is more suited to a child. The garden is so magical, with something different every time we went out there. The hottub is a little dated but fun never the less. We always managed to find a parking space on the road. No WiFi, and intermittent 4g, but that's the case for the whole of beaumaris. Recommend the Liverpool Arms and the Bulls Head for food.

Other than that we had a really lovely stay.

Fantastic location close to shops, restaurants and bars. Bottle of Prosecco and hamper a lovely gesture. Loved the garden, so many areas to sit out. We had to park down one of the streets opposite. Beds were comfortable, So peaceful at night couldnât hear a sound. Shower was small, couldnât find dvd player, dishwasher tablet holder broken, clearer instructions on how to use hot tub ie turn it off and No wi-fi. Overall, we had a fantastic stay and we would definitely return to Oyster Cottage.
