Guests say

Rhyd Y Bont Bach is a well-received cottage with guests praising its ideal location, cleanliness, and comfort. The property offers a peaceful atmosphere with a secure garden and proximity to local attractions. The sight of planes from the nearby RAF base adds a unique touch to the experience. Some guests noted minor maintenance issues and suggested improvements for convenience.

The property is generally described as clean and tidy. However, there was a mention of old food left in the microwave and an unblocked en suite shower, suggesting occasional oversights.

The location is highly praised for its beauty and convenience, with easy access to beaches, local sites, and a nearby pub. The presence of an RAF base adds excitement for some.

Guests find the cottage comfortable, with comfy beds and a relaxing atmosphere. The early check-out time was a concern for some, affecting the overall comfort.

Facilities are generally good, but some guests reported issues with TV channels, Wi-Fi information, and a lack of recycling details. The track leading to the property has been noted as problematic.

There is no mention of gifts or special thoughtful touches provided by the hosts in the reviews, so it is not possible to assess this category.

About this property

Rhyd Y Bont Bach sits in an idyllic position on the outskirts of the village of Rhoscolyn on the west coast of Anglesey. The property is just a short distance from the pretty beaches at Silver Bay and Rhoscolyn and the popular gastro pub, The White Eagle, making it an ideal base for family and friends looking to explore Anglesey. From the holiday cottage you can walk down to the entrance of the Inland Sea, where you will find carpets of wild flowers, the velvety smell of gorse, and wonderful bird life. The kitchen is well equipped with an electric oven and gas hob, fridge / freezer, washing machine, dishwasher and all the utensils you need to enjoy cooking. The sitting/dining room is welcoming and a lovely place to relax with a high beamed ceiling, oak floors with rugs, dining table and chairs, sofas and chairs, and a TV with DVD player. There are two downstairs bedrooms; one double bedroom with a brass bed and a twin with a shower room with large shower, wash hand basin and loo. There is a downstairs bathroom where you can choose between a bath or shower over. Upstairs there is a mezzanine sitting area with a sofa and coffee table. There is also a twin bedroom and en-suite bathroom with bath, separate shower, loo and wash hand basin. Outside there is an enclosed garden with lawn to the front where you can take in the serene setting plus there is ample off-road parking. When you’re ready to explore, there is lots to do close by; whether you like fishing, playing golf, or exploring this stunning coastline by boat or foot, there is something for everyone here. Rhoscolyn is noted for its clear waters and is great for snorkelers or you can visit the RSPB reserve and South Stack Lighthouse where there are breathtaking views and lots of birdlife. Lace up your walking boots and embark on a scenic coastal walk along the Anglesey Coastal Path or take a day trip to Holy Island and explore its breathtaking landscapes and historical sites. Rhyd Y Bont Bach has been carefully designed as a relaxing holiday home, fit for a getaway in any season.

Located on Holy Island, three miles from Trearddur Bay, Rhoscolyn is a small village with a church and primary school and is the most southerly place on Holy Island. Rhoscolyn also offers an excellent pub on the lane down to the beach, which is renowned for its gastro food, and the beach itself with its slipway, ideal for small dinghies and power boats, is a popular family destination throughout the summer owing to the sheltered cove and gently sloping sands. Also excellent cliff-top walks can be enjoyed and an abundance of wildlife can be seen, often including seals on the headland. Just two miles away is the village of Valley, which has a Post Office, chemist, shops and eating places, plus the nearby resort of Trearddur Bay is situated on the western shore of the island and is truly beautiful with a great sweep of low grassy coastline indented with rocky coves and fine Blue Flag sandy beaches. There are shops, pubs and restaurants in Trearddur Bay itself and nearby Holyhead offers a wider range of amenities, including a very good leisure centre, supermarkets, harbour front, a marina, the world’s second longest breakwater and exciting day trips to Dublin on the ferry. Watersports, bathing, sailing, windsurfing and horse riding are the main activities in the summer months, plus golfers will enjoy the excellent Holyhead 18 hole links golf course, and the area is also a great place for nature lovers with renowned birdwatching at the South Stack Lighthouse rspb Reserve. An excellent location with plenty to see and do!

Lots of pots, pans and cutlery. Short of space to store ambient temperature food stuffs (bread, crackers, crisps, drinks, breakfast cereal.) Shower a bit rickety but worked perfectly well. Slightly odd not to have frosted glass in the downstairs bathroom window but cottage is isolated so not really a problem.

Great secure garden for the dogs to run round in. Nice and peaceful while being easy to get to beaches and sites across Anglesey. Also very friendly and helpful housekeeper who came out to re-tune the tv for us on a Saturday evening!

Spacious, clean, comfy beds, gorgeous open fire, amazing garden overlooking open fields. Lovely hearing sheep, birds and cows such a relaxing property in beautiful local. Perfect place to travel round local villages and beaches. Didnt want to leave. Just wish check out had been 10am rather than 9am on last day. Everything else perfect
