Situated in a brilliant location, nice & rural with parking available. Couldn’t fault the cottage at all - it was comfortable, clean & suited us perfectly. The kitchen was fully stocked with cutlery, crockery, cooking implements & store cupboard staples, such as tea, coffee, sugar etc. Clear instructions were also provided to access all appliances. All in all a wonderful place to stay! I would highly recommend it!

. Let me start by saying we had a great & very comfortable stay. The property has clearly been very well thought out, designed with love & style and has some great touches. The rooms are spacious, beds & bedding comfortable & kitchen well equipped. Very rural, quiet location within easy distance of all the usual holiday places we wanted to visit. Loved the outdoor space at the back & the 2 chickens who were in no way a problem, contrary to some reviews- my children loved them. HOWEVER.. what was consistent with lots of previous reviews was the cleanliness, which was a real issue for me. It might be clean enough for your own home but not for a holiday rental. It needs a deep clean- the fridge/freezer/oven/sink shouldn't have crumbs in. The bedroom drawers shouldn't have hairs in. The sofa was covered in crumbs, dried mud & stains. The duvet (while clearly fresh & smelling lovely) had crumbs on it- it's as if someone was eating while cleaning!! The tiles in the bathroom clearly hadn't been cleaned & were covered in toothpaste/ soap, despite the sink, toilet & shower gleaming! The high chair & steps for children are really thoughtful but again, need cleaning properly. I cleaned the place myself when we arrived as I know others have said too- there are no contact details for the owners & I'm not wasting my holiday on hold to Sykes customer services. The real disappointment for me was when we came to strip the beds at the end of our stay (as requested in the manual) & found a filthy mattress that should be thrown away- covered in stains and yellowing mattress & pillow protectors that clearly aren't being changed for every guest. It saddens me to leave this review as the property really could be amazing & we loved our stay but it seems the owners (& Sykes) just aren't listening to guest feedback & reviews, which repeatedly say the same thing. I thought I'd give them the benefit of the doubt but there's only so many times you can blame the cleaner & say you weren't aware- if this was sorted the place would be wonderful.

The property has been cleverly renovated from its original use and worked well for the three of us. There are things that can be improved- the outside areas need some TLC - I totally get the wildflower meadow and enjoyed watching goldfinches eating seed heads but the drive area needs tidying and weeding and brambles cut back. Next door chickens wander freely so there is chicken poo everywhere - asking renters to keep gate closed and chicken wiring the bottom of this would help. Pillows need replacing - very thin. Quality of the cleaning is poor- spent 1 1/2 hours cleaning on arrival. Many of the lights do not work. There is no mention of how noisy the heat source pump is, particularly at night.
