Enjoy far-reaching views and high-end hospitality at this two-bedroom converted barn close to the Pembrokeshire and Ceredigion border. Pet friendly and with a contemporary reverse-level layout, it has a private garden complete with a terrace and a hot tub, plus shared use of an on-site bar and pizza oven.
Located at the end of a lane close to the historic village of Cilgerran, this barn has been skilfully converted to make the most of some spectacular countryside views. A hallway with room for boots and coats welcomes you inside, and along the corridor are a shower room and two bedrooms – a double looking onto the grounds of the farm and the second with a super-king-size zip-and-link bed (which can be made up as twins on request) and a sliding patio door onto the outside decking area. On the first floor, the chic kitchen has a breakfast island along with all the essentials for an effortless self-catering stay. Up a further few stairs, the contemporary lounge/diner has spectacular views out into the countryside, an L-shaped sofa to relax on and a Smart TV. Bi-fold doors lead onto a private balcony where you can unwind in the fresh air; alternatively, step out into the private garden where there’s a hot tub, a decked terrace and an artificial lawn. If you’re in the mood to socialise, you have shared use of an on-site bar and pizza oven – bring your own drinks and make friends with guests in the neighbouring properties.
Cilgerran has pubs, a cafe and village stores, while its 12th-century castle looms high above the River Teifi. Adventurous types can paddleboard or canoe downriver to the market town of Cardigan (3.5 miles), where an iconic Norman fortress has been the subject of a multi-million-pound restoration project and the town is peppered with a fabulous selection of vintage and antique shops. If walking is your passion, Cardigan is where the coastal paths Ceredigion and Pembrokeshire meet; if you’d prefer a countryside hike, head to the Welsh Wildlife Centre, a 270-acre nature reserve on the edge of Cilgerran.
