Penywhelp House is highly praised for its comfort, cleanliness, and prime location. Guests appreciate the well-equipped kitchen, comfortable beds, and the property's character and history. The garden is a sun trap and the proximity to local amenities and scenic walks adds to the charm. The owner's helpfulness and thoughtful touches, such as provisions for dogs, are frequently mentioned, enhancing the homely feel of the cottage.
The majority of guests found the property to be extremely clean, with only one review mentioning an issue with bedding and grill pan cleanliness. This seems to be an isolated incident, as the overall feedback on cleanliness is overwhelmingly positive.
The location is consistently praised for its scenic views, proximity to the estuary, local pubs, and walks. The village's charm and the ease of exploring nearby attractions contribute to the high rating.
Guests find the house very comfortable, noting the cosy fire, comfortable beds, and homely atmosphere. A few guests mentioned the sofa and steps as minor discomforts, but these do not detract significantly from the overall comfort.
The property is well-equipped with a special mention of the kitchen and bathroom facilities. Some guests noted the absence of a vacuum cleaner, washing machine, and clear TV instructions, suggesting room for improvement in facilities and maintenance.
The owner's responsiveness and helpfulness are frequently commended. Guests appreciate the dog-friendly features and occasional welcome gestures like milk and Welsh cakes. While these gifts are warmly received, they are not guaranteed for every stay.

St Dogmaels is a quaint and old community nestled peacefully around its ruined abbey at the mouth of the River Teifi on the wild west Wales coast. Y Felin, one of only two operational watermills in Wales, is one of the attractions. It still has the machinery built in 1820. The mill is considered to have been built by the monks of St Dogmaels' Abbey in the 12th century. The miller demonstrates how the mill works, and you may buy bread, flour, and cakes there, or visit the Coach House Café nearby for tea and cakes and light lunches. Every Tuesday, an award-winning local food market is held here, and it is well worth a visit. A pub, a fish and chip store, a Post Office, a cafe, and a small museum near the abbey are all located in the settlement. There's also a lovely green and a duck-filled millpond. Just over a mile away is Cardigan, a charming ancient market town.

It was very comfortable and the kitchen was very well equipped. The beds were also comfortable with lovely duvets and there was plenty of storage for clothing. The shower was hot and powerful. We enjoyed using the log burner as we donât have one at home so a bit of a novelty and there were plenty of logs, kindling and fire starters. The house is in a great spot for exploring the surrounding area. We visited Cardigan, inland to Newcastle Emlyn and Cenarth Falls, along the coast to Fishguard and a day out to Saundersfoot and Tenby. Also nearby is New Quay and Aberaeron, well worth a visit. Sadly the nearby pub and restaurant was closed for a week but we enjoyed two meals out further along the road at the Teifi Waterside. Our host Ruth was very friendly and helpful and the welcome pack was much appreciated. I thoroughly recommend this property.
