About this property

Situated at the edge of the idyllic Shropshire Union Canal next to the magnificent World Heritage Pontcysyllte Aqueduct in Trevor, Wrexham is this wonderful Grade II listed detached cottage, Scotch Hall Cottage. Lovingly renovated and offering homely finishing touches showcased by the careful maintenance of original beams, Scotch Hall Cottage invites six guests and two four-legged companions to indulge in a peaceful getaway in North Wales. Enter the property into an inviting sitting room, unwind on the plush sofas in front of an electric fire and click on the TV as the designated chef rustles up a tasty feast in the well-equipped kitchen. Settle down at the dining table as a family and toast to a magnificent getaway over a bottle of wine; or if you don’t feel like cooking, freshen up in the spacious bathroom before heading to the historic Telford Inn which resides only paces away and hosts a wonderful canal side garden. As the night rolls in, retreat to one of three immaculate bedrooms, choose from two doubles, one with a TV, or a twin to catch your sleep in before another day of exploration. Begin your day with a relaxing stroll along the canal and arrive at the magnificent arched structure of the Pontcysyllte Aqueduct, or hire a canal boat for the day so you can tour the landscape from the peaceful flow of the River Dee. A short distance away, discover Trevor Hall manor house where you can traverse over 150 acres of woodland, admire the Italian garden which houses a large pond, orchard, and picnic garden, or embark on the infamous Offas Dyke Path which at its peak offers stunning views of the surrounding areas. Spend the day in popular town of Llangollen and uncover the treasures of Llangollen Museum ahead of treating your loved ones to a hearty meal and cold beer at one of several pubs or restaurants on offer here; the 13th century ruins of Castell Dinas Bran can be found, as can Llangollen Railway where heritage railcars and steam trains can often be spotted passing through. All of this and more awaits at Scotch Hall Cottage.

The Welsh village of Trevor, which is located in the county borough of Wrexham and is nestled amid the natural splendour of the Vale of Llangollen, is the ideal starting point from which to explore the Welsh countryside. The area, which is primarily made up of cottages from the nineteenth and twentieth centuries, provides a wide range of amenities to meet a variety of needs. These include a local store for any last-minute necessities, pubs for a satisfying drink after a day of exploring, and tea rooms for an indulgent afternoon of sweet treats. Additionally, the area is home to the Pontcysyllte Aqueduct & Trevor Basin Visitor Center, where you can locate the navigable aqueduct that spans the River Dee to carry the Llangollen Canal; it's a wonderful wonder and well worth the stop while on your explorations. Make sure to go on your own aqueduct boat excursion so you can see the wonder up close while enjoying the scenery. The largest town in all of North Wales, Wrexham, is accessible from the village and is home to wonderful walking pathways in Nant Mill and the National Trust of Erddig, which offers a grand estate and landscaped garden to explore. The mediaeval cathedral city of Chester, with its Roman walls, superb retail opportunities, and vibrant nightlife, provides for a wonderful day excursion for everyone after you've taken in the splendour of the majestic Chirk Castle. Trevor is a wonderful starting point for your travel of Wales and beyond because it is close to Snowdonia National Park and Shrewsbury as well.
