Guests consistently praise Hillfort for its welcoming hosts, Nik and Julie, and the excellent food served in the pub below. The property's cleanliness and well-equipped kitchen receive positive mentions, as do the comfortable beds and the stunning views from the balcony. The quiet, traditional pub atmosphere and the property's location make it an ideal base for exploring North Wales. While there are a few comments about the need for maintenance and the comfort of the beds and sofa, the overall sentiment is highly positive, with many guests eager to return.

Most guests found the property to be spotlessly clean, with only one review mentioning areas missed by the cleaner. The high level of cleanliness is frequently noted, contributing to a very positive impression overall.

The location is highly praised for its beautiful landscape, scenic views, and proximity to local attractions. It serves as a peaceful retreat with the convenience of a traditional pub, making it an ideal base for exploring North Wales.

The majority of guests found the beds comfortable and the accommodation well-suited to their needs. However, there were a few comments about the need for a new mattress and the discomfort of the sofa, which slightly lowers the score.

Facilities are generally well-regarded, with the property being well-equipped for guests' needs. Some guests mentioned a lack of utensils and the small size of the TV, indicating room for improvement in maintenance and amenities.

While the reviews reflect the hosts' welcoming and helpful nature, there are no specific mentions of gifts or special thoughtful touches that would warrant a score in this category. Therefore, the score is set to null.

We were a little disappointed that the pub below was closed while we were visiting, as we were looking forward to sampling the German food ( maybe next time) The apartment had everything we needed, the only downfall was the beds and sofa were very uncomfortable. Having said that we would visit again.

The apartment is much bigger than we expected, and provided everything that we needed for our stay. It was spotlessly clean, and had a shared balcony with the apartment next door. The views were stunning, perfect for watching the sunset (see my TripAdvisor review for some pics). Oven/microwave/cutlery ect. Were provided. We always take extra bits with us, as we like to cook as well as eat out. However, there is a local Tesco and other conscience shops in Ruthin if you forget things. The apartment is perfectly located for a number of national trust walks, and is a scenic drive to Chester zoo/Cheshire Oaks. We like to get out and about now we have a son, but in all honesty if we were here 'childfree' we probably wouldn't have left often... especially when the pub below is open! Nik and Julia the owners are lovely, welcoming and made us feel welcomed and comfortable. Our son was let to roam around the pub, whilst my husband enjoyed a gluten free beer. After contacting Nik about my husbands coeliac disease before our arrival, gluten free beers were waiting for him in the pub. Which was perfect! The owners were easily contactable, but let you get on with your stay. That's how we like it! We enjoyed our stay, and would return 100%. As soon as I have given birth, we are going to look at our calendar and book again! Thanks Nik & Julia. Xx
