Captain's Rest in Criccieth is highly praised for its stunning views, comfortable furnishings, and excellent location. Guests appreciate the well-equipped property and its proximity to local amenities. The top-floor lounge is a favourite for its panoramic sea views. Some guests mention minor issues but overall, the sentiment is overwhelmingly positive, with many planning return visits.

Guests that stayed at this property said

The majority of guests report Captain's Rest as very clean and well-maintained, with only a few isolated comments about minor cleanliness issues towards the end of the season. Regular positive remarks about the property's tidiness contribute to a high cleanliness score.

The location of Captain's Rest is consistently lauded for its spectacular sea views and proximity to the beach and local attractions. The convenience of the setting and the ability to hear the sea are frequently mentioned, leading to an excellent score for location.

Guests find the house comfortable, with special mentions of comfy beds and sofas. The property's decoration and homely feel contribute to a high comfort level. However, some guests note the stairs could be a challenge for those with mobility issues.

Facilities at Captain's Rest are generally well-received, with a well-equipped kitchen and thoughtful touches. Some guests mention issues such as poor Wi-Fi and a leaky kettle, but upgrades like a new kitchen are also noted. The lack of outdoor space is mentioned, but it does not detract significantly from the overall positive feedback.

While many reviews express gratitude for the well-equipped and comfortable property, there is insufficient information on specific thoughtful gestures such as gifts to accurately assess this category. Therefore, the score is set to null, and guests should note that such personal touches, while appreciated, are not guaranteed.

About this property

Captain's Rest is a family friendly seaside holiday house in Criccieth - you’re a stone’s throw from the beach! Laid out over three floors, this beachside holiday house has plenty of room and boasts brilliant sea views from both sitting rooms.

There are two sitting rooms and both of them have amazing sea views - the shore is on your doorstep! The ground floor sitting room has sofas set around a gas log burner effect stove and a wall hung flat screen TV.

On the third floor you’ll find the second sitting room. It has a large window with views out to sea, a large corner sofa, books and board games for entertainment if you can bear to tear your gaze away from the views! This is the ideal space for a bit of relaxation.

The contemporary kitchen is bright and has a Rangemaster cooker, dishwasher, washing machine, microwave and fridge freezer. From the kitchen you can head into the dining room which has a glass roof! This room is brilliant in the summer, but bright in the winter months.

On the first floor are two lovely bedrooms. The master room has a king sized bed and sea views. The second room has twin single beds.

On the third floor is another bedroom which has a double bed.

Captain’s Rest has two family bathrooms, one with large walk-in shower, loo, wash hand basin and underfloor heating. The second bathroom has a shower, loo and wash hand basin.

There is no garden here, however there is a small paved area to the front where you can sit on the bench to enjoy a morning coffee if you like. At the back there is a gravelled narrow space where you can store bikes. However, you are literally overlooking the beach at Captain’s Rest.

The best bit about staying in Criccieth is that there’s so much here without having to jump in the car. Fab places to eat and drink, great walks, a castle, to explore and lovely local shops. Some of the best ice cream is found in Cadwaladers and the best fish n chip shop on the Llŷn Peninsula are both less than a two minute walk away. You’re close to attractions, activities and fab places to eat and drink. Happy holiday memories will be made here!

Often described as the 'Pearl of Wales on the shores of Snowdonia’, this delightful seaside town is situated just 5 miles from Porthmadog. The town’s 13th century castle perches majestically on a rocky outcrop, dominating the skyline and offering superb views of Tremadog Bay and the Snowdonia mountains. Watersports enthusiasts will be delighted by the two beaches, whilst walkers and bikers are spoilt for choice by the proximity of the beautiful Snowdonia National Park. Stroll along the beaches, watch porpoises playing in the surf, or relax in the various pubs, restaurants and tea rooms, sampling the famous Cadwalader’s ice cream. Further afield, attractions such as Portmeirion’s wonderful Italianate gardens, the Ffestiniog railway in Porthmadog, Harlech Castle, Caernarfon Castle and the beautiful beaches and renowned golf courses of the Llyn Peninsula are all within an easy drive.

We had an amazing week. The house is beautiful, decorated as an ‘ode to a beach house’ without it being over the top. The house is clean and airy and spacious. The top lounge was our favourite room, we watched glassy seas, choppy seas, sunsets as well as the puffing pig porpoises from that amazing window. To be able to step out of the front door and simply cross the road to the beach is the stuff holidays are made of. Fish and chips and ice cream two minutes away, Dylan’s restaurant a 10 minute walk as well as pitch and putt and the high street also 10 mins away. The only downside was that we couldn’t get the Wii to work, which our two girls were disappointed about as they don’t have one at home! Other than that, we had such a great week and would definitely go back.

Very comfortable well equipped property with stunning views especially from the 3rd floor lounge, views absolute stunning and so very calming. The House was like "Home from Home" as everything you needed was there. We did not want to leave it was so relaxing. Lots of things to do in Criccieth including the Castle which is right on the doorstep. We also visited Harlech and Caernarfon too. We even managed to sit on the beach a few times we found the property very convenient with the beach just across the road. The coastal path is a really nice walk too. We even did the train ride this time from Porthmadoc to Beddgelert, such stunning scenery. Lots of nice eateries in the area including Dylans and Caerwylan and The Fish n Chip shop on the High Street was really good! Hope to visit this property again in the future if they can fit us in!
