Pen y Groes is a charming and cosy cottage in Pwllheli, appreciated for its comfortable beds, well-equipped kitchen, and tasteful decoration. Guests enjoy the peacefulness and beauty of the surrounding area, with a local shop and pub nearby. Some guests mentioned a warm welcome with thoughtful touches like fresh milk and bara brith.
The cottage is generally found to be clean and well-maintained, with several guests noting its cleanliness and well-equipped kitchen. However, there are repeated mentions of a damp smell and presence of mould, which suggests that while the surface cleanliness is good, there are underlying issues affecting the overall cleanliness score.
The location is praised for its beauty and peacefulness, with easy access to local amenities and the Llyn Peninsula. However, some guests found the proximity to a busy road and lack of grassy areas for pets to be drawbacks, slightly affecting the location score.
Guests find the beds comfortable and the cottage cosy, especially with the fireplace. The cottage's remote setting contributes to a peaceful stay. Some concerns about dampness and mustiness upon arrival are noted, but overall, the comfort level is high once settled in.
The cottage is well-equipped, particularly the kitchen, and guests appreciate the homely touches. However, there are issues with dampness, mould, and maintenance problems like difficulty with water and lights, and a broken TV aerial connection. These issues suggest room for improvement in facilities and maintenance.
Guests mention thoughtful gestures such as the provision of fresh milk and bara brith upon arrival, which contribute to a welcoming atmosphere. While these gifts are warmly received, it is important to note that such personal touches, though delightful, are not guaranteed with every stay.

Listing shows a toaster but no toaster present, and the TV didn't work, but we weren't in Wales to sit and watch TV so not a big problem. Nice place, nice location. Would happily stay there again.
Gary
The TV aerial connection was broken so wasn't able to watch it, this wasn't an issue for us as wasn't planning to watch, there seems to be very little slack on the cable so any slight movement of the TV and the aerial comes out, other than that the property was good
Angela
Proper instructions for using the TV are essential. Itâs such a shame though that the pub, which is very friendly, no longer serves food.
