Nestled in the village of Gilwern within the Bannau Brycheiniog National Park (Brecon Beacons National Park), is this wonderful cottage, The Cwtch. This pet-friendly dwelling has a characterful interior with a quirky fireplace on the landing and painted stone walls, ideal for a couple seeking a romantic getaway with their dog. On arrival, leave your vehicle in an off-road parking space before entering the sitting room, which features a sofa and a wall-mounted Smart TV to relax. The kitchen/diner is adjacent and is a compact but efficient space with an electric oven and hob, fridge with an ice box and a breakfast bar to tuck-into snacks and meals. Savour a glass of wine in the small courtyard to recount the days adventures; afterwards venture to the first floor to freshen up in the contemporary shower room. There is a bedroom with a king-size bed, a dresser to assist with your night-time routine and bedside tables to keep your favourite book. From the foot of the door, you will find The Towpath Inn, a village pub with a beer garden, The Corn Exchange to sample delicious wine and a convenience store for all your essentials. The Cwtch is a superb base for history buffs with Big Pit National Coal Museum, Tretower Court and Castle and Clydach Gorge; all with a fascinating insight into the past. Also within easy reach is Brecon Beacons National Park; here you can ramble the scenic landscape, hike up hills and stop off at quiet reservoirs for a picnic. Venture to the market town of Abergavenny, home to the ruins of Abergavenny Museum, beautiful gardens for calming walk and a cluster of pubs for a refreshing pint. For a lovely dwelling in Mid Wales, whisk your other half to The Cwtch.
The charming community of Gilwern, which is surrounded by the Bannau Brycheiniog National Park (Brecon Beacons National Park), provides visitors with a wide range of services, including quaint shops, pubs, and a fantastic fish and chip store. The Usk River offers outstanding salmon and trout fishing, and the National Park, which spans an area of around 520 square miles, is surrounded by beautiful landscape. The area surrounding Gilwern is also fantastic for walking, cycling, and bird viewing. Nestled between the "seven hills," the ancient market town of Abergavenny, known as the "Gateway to Wales," offers something for everyone with its numerous indoor and outdoor markets, spectacular castle, and museums. A few miles away, the lovely town of Crickhowell is a must-see for all visitors. The magnificent peak known as Sugarloaf offers wonderful walks for all abilities as well as its own winery. This location is wonderful at any time of the year because of the clean mountain air and stunning surroundings.
