Guests say

Arfron Cottage in Newport is praised for its peaceful and tranquil setting, offering a comfortable stay with wonderful views. Guests appreciate the property's cleanliness and the host's responsiveness, especially when accommodating last-minute bookings. The access road is noted as challenging, particularly for vehicles with low clearance, but the property's charm seems to compensate for this inconvenience.

The property is generally described as clean. However, a few mentions of cobwebs and minor maintenance issues suggest room for improvement, but these do not detract significantly from the overall experience.

The location is appreciated for its tranquility and suitability for nature lovers and hikers. The challenging access road is a recurring theme, indicating that while the setting is idyllic, it may not be easily accessible for all vehicles.

Guests find the cottage comfortable and well-equipped, contributing to a pleasant stay. There is a mention of an intermittent shower issue, but this appears to be in the process of being resolved.

The facilities are generally well-received, with the property being well-equipped. Some maintenance issues are noted, such as the need for garden upkeep and minor repairs, which suggests that while facilities are adequate, there is scope for enhancement.

There is no mention of gifts or special touches that would indicate the level of thoughtfulness from the host, therefore this category cannot be scored.

About this property

Perched in a fantastic location overlooking the sea in Dinas Cross, Pembrokeshire is Arfron. This wonderful, dog-friendly holiday home benefits from a reverse-level layout with a homely open-plan living space, a tiered garden with furniture and stunning views across the sea and a close proximity to the village’s local amenities and beach; perfect for families, friends or couples looking for a fun-filled seascape. Cross the threshold into your new home-from-home and head straight up the stairs where you can sink into the plush sofa in front of the Smart TV while the designated chef of the group whips up a tasty meal in the fully-equipped kitchen. Gather around the table to tuck in while the large windows allow a breath-taking, panoramic view across the sea. After dinner, head back downstairs where you can savour the last of the evening’s sun with a glass of your favourite tipple outside on the furniture facing the uninterrupted views across the azure. When the sun dips behind the horizon, go back inside to wash off the day’s adventures in the bathroom before catching your rest in either the double or the family room with double and single. Arfron lies conveniently near a local store where you can pick up essentials to ease your self-catered stay or even just delight in an evening away from the kitchen at the local pubs, The Ship Aground and The Freemasons Arms. On sunny days, venture to the coast at Pwllgwaelod Beach where you can soak up the sun on its glorious golden shores while the kids paddle in the shallow water and your dog roams freely. Follow the Pembrokeshire Coast to find the picturesque cove of Cwm yr Eglwys which houses the remarkable remains of St Brynach's Church. Enjoy the vast spread of the Pembrokeshire Coast National Park where you can meander the 186 miles of coastal walks, a variety of fun watersports and a wealth of scenic beaches. Explore the endless wonders of West Wales’ coast at Arfron.

Located between the beautiful Preseli Mountains and the Pembrokeshire Coast Path, the small, dispersed village of Dinas Cross is home to a well-stocked mini market and a pub. There is a gas station, two pubs, a fish and chip shop, and a restaurant down at Pwll Gwaelod beach, and Cwm-Yr-Eglwys beach is just as close, both offering breath-taking scenery and the chance to spend tranquil days in perfect settings, and yet they are almost unnoticed by the general public unless they leave the main route through the village. Newport, not far away, is an interesting seaside town with a rich history and lots of great places to shop, eat, and drink, as well as enjoy the water. Castles, mills, craft centres, and golf courses abound in this beautiful Welsh county, making it an ideal holiday destination at any time of year.

Track in, a bit bumpy but I have a Volvo s80 saloon car and taking care it wasnt a problem. Everything you need is provided in the cottage, we did bring our own bedding covers because of our little dog but there was plenty at cottage. The only problem was disposing of food waste and recycling. We couldn't see any directive or bins/containers to use . Apart from that I would recommend anyone coming to stay . Beautiful area with wonderful views and a well equipped cottage

The track access was described but I think it should be emphasised that it is not suitable for anything other than 4x4 or suv vehicles. We had two vehicles with us, an audi a1 and a jazz and it was a very worrying entry and exit. We ended up with a nasty puncture in the sidewall of the audi on the last day. This was from hitting the side of the track while trying to avoid bottoming out on the rough ground. We have to say that we had brilliant service from rt tyres who came out from cardigan.

The place was comfortable and well equipped with wonderful views. The shower performance was intermittent but it looks like work is underway to sort it. We would definitely recommend staying here. Many thanks!
