Guests say

Ploony Cottage is a well-loved holiday destination, praised for its peaceful and picturesque setting, comfortable accommodations, and welcoming hosts. Guests enjoyed the added luxury of a hot tub and the charm of a working farm. The property's rural location offers a tranquil retreat with beautiful night skies and plenty of space for pets to explore.

Most guests found the cottage to be clean and well-maintained, though a few noted areas that could benefit from deeper cleaning or attention. The positive remarks on cleanliness far outweigh the negatives, indicating a generally high standard of cleanliness.

The location is highly praised for its tranquility, beautiful surroundings, and proximity to nature and walking areas. The rural track to the cottage is noted by some as rough but does not significantly detract from the overall appreciation of the location.

Guests consistently mention the comfort of the beds and the cosy atmosphere of the cottage. The presence of a hot tub and a log burner adds to the overall comfort. However, a few guests suggested improvements to certain amenities for an even more comfortable stay.

The facilities, including the hot tub, kitchen, and garden, are generally well-received. Some guests mentioned minor maintenance issues and suggested additional amenities such as a dishwasher. The presence of a working farm adds to the charm for many visitors.

Many guests were delighted by the thoughtful touches provided by the hosts, such as Welsh cakes, wine, and flowers. While these gifts greatly enhanced the experience, it is important to note that such personal touches, though common, are not guaranteed with every stay.

About this property

Bleddfa 1 mile. A traditional farmhouse, situated adjacent to Plooney Barn, in a pretty valley just outside the village of Bleddfa, Mid Wales. The cottage is the perfect base for families or friends looking to relax and experience an idyllic, peaceful location in the stunning border countryside. Set over two floors, there are three comfortable bedrooms and a family bathroom, as well as a traditional, well-equipped kitchen with a stone-flagged floor and dining area. Across the hall is the cosy sitting room with a woodburner, where you can unwind after exploring the area. Outside, you can sit on the patio in the calming garden, which has a raised veranda with a six-seater hot tub, sloping lawns and a further terraced lawned area looking across the valley and down to the idyllic cottage. A mountain stream runs through the garden, which offers plenty of room to run and play, sit under the mature trees, or relax on the patio while the children enjoy exploring the large undulating garden. This delightful farmhouse cottage is situated on a rarely used and ancient by-way, which enables you to walk to a local drink only pub in Llangunllo serving local real ales, being either a one or two mile walk away depending on which direction you choose, a wonderful opportunity to travel along paths used for hundreds of years in unspoilt countryside. You are ideally placed to explore the green rolling hills and Knighton, making Ploony Cottage the perfect gateway in the Shropshire Hills AONB. Knighton is linked with the walker’s town of Kington, by Offa’s Dyke that meanders through the countryside along the border between Wales and England, in the area known as the Welsh Marches. It is a pretty market town, with the traditional landscape of Hergest Croft Gardens and its popular tea rooms. The area also offers numerous outdoor activities, such as cycling, horse riding and walking, with Offa’s Dyke Path and Glyndwr’s Way just a short drive away, as well as lots of local gardens and golf courses. Slightly further afield are Builth Wells and the Royal Welsh Showground, which host various annual events, the quaint town of Rhayader where you can visit the Red Kite feeding centre, and the Elan Valley Reservoirs. Alternatively, visit Ludlow or Leominster, beautiful historic market towns where you can browse local producers and maybe try one of the many restaurants available. A traditional cottage, nestled in a secluded valley, offering a delightful retreat in the rolling countryside of the Welsh Marches.

Bleddfa is a small quiet village in the rolling hills of Radnorshire, on the edge of Radnor Forest with walks through the village to a view point above. A lovely village, with a quaint pub, is just a short drive from the popular market town of Knighton, which is situated on Offa's Dykes, opening up fabulous walking along the border and into the stunning countryside of the Shropshire Hills aonb dotted with pretty historic villages.

Comfy cottage and we loved it.

The step into the house should be wider to allow for the collection of water on rainy days,I would recommend the same for the area of hot tub which Sally slid backwards on landing on her back and the stepping arrangemt up into the garden was equally hazardous. The image on line had cushions on the kitchen chairs and the day bed upstairs which were not there when we arrived, we had to wash the crockery ,cutlery and glasses before using them, there was food on the breadboard which we left untouched. This affected how comfortable we felt and affected us from the start. There was a general lack of care; the stone wall in the bathroom needed a good clean, the silicone around the shower area needed renewing. The smaller front bedroom had webs and a swarm of midges considering we only got inside around 4:30 due to the change over policy. It should also be pointed out that this is not a secluded position as the barn is a holiday let and there are signs for more lodges off the drive the photos are disingenuous. There was an infestation of flies around the downstairs area which we spent a lot of time hoovering up and using fly tape, it was really bad, we couldn’t beat them, no idea how they were getting in.All in all this was a disappointing property and vastly over priced. The property could do with a dish washer too.
