Guests say

Guests consistently praise the property for its cleanliness, stunning location, and thoughtful touches such as welcome gifts. The unique and peaceful setting is frequently highlighted, along with the luxurious hot tub. While most find the property comfortable and well-equipped, some mention minor issues with facilities and seating comfort.

Reviewers are overwhelmingly positive about the cleanliness of the property, often describing it as spotless. This suggests a very high standard of cleanliness maintained by the hosts.

The location is highly praised for its beauty and tranquility, with spectacular views and a peaceful environment. However, there are no negative comments about the location to detract from the score.

The property is generally regarded as comfortable, especially the beds, but there are some remarks about the seating not being the most comfortable, which slightly lowers the score.

Facilities are well-received with the hot tub being a highlight. However, there are comments about issues with hot water, a leaky sink, and a faulty fridge, which indicate some maintenance concerns.

Guests appreciate the thoughtful gestures such as welcome packs with wine and Welsh cakes. While these gifts are warmly mentioned, it is noted that such extras are a bonus and not guaranteed.

About this property

Set within the grassy mounds of Llanfair Caereinion in Powys, lies this quirky single-storey property, Tan Y Wawr. Located in the sweeping hills of the countryside and boasting a contemporary open-plan living space, off-road parking and private outdoor spaces, this hut welcomes four guests to enjoy a one-of-a-kind rural escape in Mid Wales. Arriving in the spacious kitchen/dining area, you’ll find all the expected appliances required for a stress-free self-catered stay; relish mealtimes on the dining seating or move to the private patio, where you can rustle up alfresco dishes on the barbecue and relax on the outdoor furniture. Spend the evenings stargazing from your very own hot tub and delight in the tranquillity of your surroundings. When night calls, venture to one of two beautifully-appointed double bedrooms, both serviced by their own en-suite shower rooms, so you head out feeling fresh and ready for a day of exploring. For an adventure you’ll never forget, choose Tan Y Wawr as your next holiday to Powys.

In the valley of the River Banwy, the town of Llanfair Caereinion was constructed on the remains of a former Roman fort. With a Post Office, two supermarkets, and a choice of three different pubs, it is a vibrant town centred on The Church of St. Mary. Locals love the yearly Llanfair Caereinion Carnival, which passes through the town with a full parade of floats and dancing groups to recreate the carnival atmosphere of Rio. Before travelling back in time and boarding the start of the narrow-gauge vintage steam railway that goes 8.5 miles west to Welshpool, there is a river walk along the banks of the Banwy that leads to an arboretum with over 25 distinct varieties of British trees. Welshpool is tucked away in the upper slopes of the lovely Severn Valley, not far from the Welsh-English border. This thriving market town is surrounded by lush, unspoiled farmland and rolling hills. Along with the rebuilt cock fighting pit and intriguing Heritage Trail in the town centre, there is a distinctive mix of stores selling arts and crafts, fashion and leisure, fresh produce, and great pubs and restaurants. Visit the famed Dingle Gardens and the well-known Powis Castle from the 13th century. Take advantage of beautiful walks and bike rides along National walking trails and the Offa's Dyke Pathway or take a summertime boat down the Montgomery Canal.

Would recommend again. Would recommend including the coordinates for the site as post code is a little inaccurate and website map not the easiest to read - 52°39'29.3"N 3°23'59.7"W
