About this property

Noddfa is a charming, traditional Welsh country cottage situated within the breathtaking Eryri (Snowdonia) National Park in Penmachno, Conwy. Built in 1843, this delightful retreat offers an ideal base for walking, cycling, or simply unwinding, with roadside parking and welcoming one well-behaved pet for a memorable family or friends' getaway. Stepping over the threshold, be delighted by the inviting sitting room, exuding charm and character with its beams, vaulted ceilings, and warming woodburning stove set in a striking inglenook fireplace, perfect for those chillier evenings. Settle down on the plush seating and enjoy a film on the Smart TV or delve into a book from the selection provided. The kitchen is fully equipped to inspire your culinary creativity, and its charming Welsh slate flooring adds a touch of tradition, making it the ideal setting for hosting hearty dinner gatherings with your loved ones. The handy utility room, with a washing machine and tumble dryer, takes care of life's little necessities. A convenient cloakroom with WC and basin completes the ground-floor interior of this delightful cottage. Ascending the stairs, you’ll find two charming bedrooms awaiting sleepy heads, a spacious double room featuring dual-aspect windows flooding the room with natural light, exposed wooden beams, and elegant oak floorboards, alongside a comfortable adult bunk room. Both provide peaceful retreats, perfect for unwinding after a day of adventure. Freshen up in the sleek shower room, equipped with a walk-in shower for soothing soaks after a day of hiking the surroundings. Outside, the property continues to impress with its sunny South-facing garden, providing the perfect backdrop for a morning coffee. In your vicinity, a treasure trove of attractions awaits your discovery. Embark on a woodland adventure in the Gwydir Forest Park, home to diverse wildlife and serene walking trails. Take a stroll around the enchanting Fairy Glen, a secluded gorge and beauty spot on the Conwy River, or be mesmerised by the cascading waters of Rhaeadr Y Graig Lwyd. For history buffs, delve into the past at Ffos Anoddun, the site of a Roman fort in the valley, and visit Tŷ Mawr Wybrnant, a 16th-century farmhouse owned by the National Trust and the birthplace of Bishop William Morgan, translator of the Bible into Welsh. After a day exploring the wonders of North Wales, return to the tranquillity of Noddfa for a snug evening in. Let this charming Welsh abode be your sanctuary amidst the natural beauty of Eryri.

The small, peaceful village of Penmachno is situated in the beautiful Machno Valley, just 4 miles from the popular town of Betws-y-Coed. Surrounded by woodland, magnificent mountains and flowing rivers, the whole area is a haven for walkers, birdwatchers, mountain bikers and climbers, whilst Betws-y-Coed itself offers a good range of shops, pubs and cafes. Here the River Conwy meets its three tributaries, creating a host of cascading waterfalls, river pools and ancient bridges throughout the surrounding countryside, the most famous of which is the magnificent waterfall at Swallow Falls, situated where the River Llugwy meets with a spectacular chasm, creating a sight not to be missed! The beautiful Conwy Falls are also well worth a visit and are situated in the Machno Valley. With all of Snowdonia to explore and North Wales' Heritage Coastlines also within easy reach, this beautiful location has plenty to offer at any time of year.
