The property's location is ideal for exploring North Wales, with easy access to scenic walks and nearby towns. While most reviews are positive, a few guests were disappointed with the private nature of the garden and additional cost for hot tub use.

Guests consistently mention the immaculate condition of The Old Stable, highlighting its spotlessness and well-maintained appearance. The high level of cleanliness contributes significantly to the overall positive experience.

The property's location is frequently commended for its tranquillity and proximity to Conwy, local beaches, and scenic walks. It is described as ideal for exploring North Wales, although one review mentioned it was slightly too far to walk into Conwy.

Comfort is a standout feature in the reviews, with guests finding the cottage cosy, well-equipped, and providing a good night's sleep. The presence of a dog-friendly environment and the provision of amenities like blankets and feeding bowls add to the comfort level.

Facilities at The Old Stable are generally well-received, with the hot tub being a highlight for many. However, some guests were disappointed with the additional charge for hot tub use and the lack of access to the larger garden depicted in photos.

The hosts' thoughtfulness is evident in the provision of travel directions, local recommendations, and welcoming treats. While gifts like cakes and homegrown produce are mentioned, it should be noted that such personal touches, although delightful, are not guaranteed.

About this property

Conwy 2.5 miles.

The Old Stable is a converted stable and cart shed, nestled against a 17th century farmhouse at the heart of the small village of Henryd, Conwy. Enjoying mountain views to the rear, The Old Stable is perfectly located, being just 500m away from the boundary of the Eryri (Snowdonia) National Park and only 2½ miles from Conwy.

Make yourself at home in the lounge, curling up on the sofa or armchair. Put your feet up as you ponder on the day’s events, catch up on your latest “binge-watch” or dive into the selection of board games supplied.

The contemporary kitchen/diner is well equipped for you to cook up your favourite dishes and eat at the round table looking onto the courtyard garden and the view beyond the owners’ garden. Fling the patio doors open in summer to enjoy the afternoon and evening sun. A bistro set is provided at the front of the property to catch the morning sun; a great breakfast spot.

Up the stairs you’ll find the bedroom, complete with a king-size bed, vaulted ceilings and beams. A shower room is just outside the bedroom door.

A short drive brings you into beautiful Conwy; an historic walled town with its ancient castle, the smallest house in Britain and the picturesque quay - the perfect place to rest and watch the world pass by. Blessed with a good selection of independent shops, galleries, cafes, pubs and restaurants, you can easily pass a relaxing day here.

There is a plethora of beautiful walks locally or just a short drive away. Whether you prefer short pub walks from the cottage, views from the nearby Conwy mountain, hiking in Eryri (Snowdonia), roaming around the nearby Bodnant Gardens or RSPB reserve, exploring the Great Orme with its famous goats, or an evening beach walk, all within easy reach. Dip into the wood-fired hot tub on your return to ease those aching muscles. The owners live next door so can be on hand to help light it if needed.

If it’s traditional seaside fun you crave, then head into Llandudno just five miles away; with its two beaches, pier and promenade, fun fair, cable-car ride, shops, restaurants and amusements, this Victorian seaside jewel won’t disappoint. In the evening why not take in a show, film or concert at Venue Cymru?

Higher octane pastimes can be found a short drive away at Llandudno Snowsports Centre or Zipworld. If mountain or road biking is your passion, safe bike storage is available at the property.

With all this plus Rhos-on-Sea, Colwyn Bay, Caernarfon, Anglesey and Betws-y-Coed just a scenic drive away, The Old Stable provides a great break in any season.

Conwy, a World Heritage Site, is unquestionably well-known around the world for its historical and architectural legacy, yet the centre of the town is a hive of busy activity. There are numerous specialised stores, eateries, and motels in addition to its traditional festivals and fairs, musical performances, galleries, and tourist attractions. Conwy Castle, which was constructed for King Edward I between 1283 and 1287, is still regarded as one of the finest examples of mediaeval military construction. The castle's unusual, elongated shape—complete with two barbicans, eight enormous towers, and a large bow-shaped hall—was likely influenced by the castle's location on a small rocky outcrop. The Gwledd Conwy Feast, the Honey Fair, the Seed Fair, and other yearly festivals, events, and fairs, as well as other musical occasions throughout the year, are just a few of the town's many annual celebrations of its historical traditions, which it is pleased to uphold. Conwy is the ideal starting point for exploring the stunning Snowdonia National Park, strolling along undeveloped sandy beaches, or taking in the breathtaking nature right outside your door. The Llechwedd Slate Caverns, which have the longest zip line in Europe, are also close by, while Surf Snowdonia is only six miles distant.

Janet and John were brilliant hosts. Helping with the hot tub, putting on the heating for us on cold mornings and great communication if we needed any help with anything at the cottage. The cottage was spotless, cosy and felt like a home away from home. The hot tub was a great addition to the holiday, using it most nights. A perfect location for a relaxing break away with great access to historical sites and day trips around North Wales.

Comfortable, clean, and well cared for. Really well located: only a couple of miles from Conwy/A55, yet with the quietness & rural location that we enjoy. Really lovely & helpful owners as well.
