Guests say

Guests have praised Ty Cynon for its cleanliness, comfort, and the thoughtfulness of the hosts, often mentioning the peaceful location with stunning views. The cottage's character and cosy fireplace are highlights, alongside the well-equipped kitchen and comfortable beds. Some guests noted the town's limited dining options and the need to drive to attractions, but the property's charm and amenities generally make for a delightful stay.

The majority of guests found the cottage to be spotlessly clean and tidy, contributing to a pleasant stay. However, one review mentioned the need for a deeper clean, suggesting room for improvement.

The location is appreciated for its quietness and beautiful views, though some guests noted the town itself is a bit run down and the best attractions require a drive. The proximity to walking paths and the town centre is a plus.

Comfort is consistently highlighted, with guests enjoying the cosy fireplace, comfortable beds, and the overall peacefulness of the cottage. The property's ambience seems to contribute positively to the comfort of guests' stays.

Facilities are generally well-received, with a well-equipped kitchen and good amenities. Criticisms include a lack of essentials such as toilet paper and firewood, which affected the convenience of the stay for some guests.

While many guests mentioned and appreciated welcome gifts such as wine, chocolates, and a welcome pack, it is important to note that such gestures are at the discretion of the hosts and may not be guaranteed for every stay.

About this property

A wonderful double fronted stone-built, semi-detached character cottage, in an elevated hillside location Fucheswen, this property is ideal for couples.

High above the historic mining town of Blaenau Ffestiniog, enjoy lovely views encompassing the Moelwyn mountain range. Ty Cynon is located on a single track ‘no through’ road in a tucked away location which makes it a wonderful ‘get away from it all’ retreat whilst still being a short stroll from the town centre and all its amenities. The cottage provides a perfect base for either a couple, friends or a small family who enjoy outdoor pursuits, country and hillside walks, all of which can be enjoyed right from the cottage doorstep. Furnished with style and full of character with exposed beams and stonework, Ty Cynon provides cosy, well-equipped accommodation and it’s said even has links with the British sculptor, David Nash who has now settled in Blaenau Ffestiniog. On entering this delightful cottage you are welcomed into a charming sitting room with warming wood burning stove set in an old stone inglenook fireplace, and an intimate dining area where you can sit and unwind after a day walking in the surrounding mountains. The fully-fitted modern kitchen with breakfast counter is well-equipped and will cater for all your needs whilst upstairs, two individually styled bedrooms, both enjoying far reaching mountainous views are serviced by a well-appointed bathroom. Outside, an enclosed seating area leads off the kitchen, and a steeply-terraced rear garden offers views over the rooftops, as well as a relaxing seating area which provides a perfect place to enjoy a glass of wine in the evening and watch the sun go down behind the mountains. The famous Ffestiniog to Porthmadog Steam Railway starts its journey less than a mile away, and for the more adventurous there is ZipWorld Titan, Zip Caverns and Bounce Below close by whilst the coastal towns of Harlech and Criccieth, with their medieval Castles and wonderful sandy beaches and hidden coves are reached in just 30 minutes. With Snowdonia on the doorstep, and Anglesey and the Llyn Peninsula easily reached, this is a perfect Blaenau Ffestiniog cottage for all to enjoy, whatever the time of year.

Fucheswen is a Blaenau Ffestiniog, within the Snowdonia National Park. The River Dwyryd runs alongside the village, on the periphery and adds to the picturesque environment.

A lovely, characterful property in a peaceful location just above a unique and interesting town. Excellent communication from the owner Abi. Blaenau is well placed to explore the scenic wonders of Snowdonia. Top recommendation all round! Ian and Beena

The property is situated on a hill and a bit tricky to get to initially, but if you follow the directions given you will get there. The property was spotlessly clean and ideal for a getaway or a family of four. WiFi is good and easily ran our fire stick. The beds are super comfy and the cottage is supplied with everything you need for a stay. Local amenities are a short walk and local bus/rail close by. Plenty to do in blenau ffestiniog itself including zip world and steam train rides to portmadoch and back. Thirty minute drive to Betys I coed and fifty minutes to Mount Snowdon. We can't wait to come back again and are hoping to make this property an annual visit.

and no excuse for this as myself a cleaner had to be done all the lodges by 2pm I saw the cleaners had no mop bucket only a hoover the floors even tho they are wooden should be mopped every change over day I wiped the kitchen floor the wipe was black not the cleanest of cottages thick dust and hairs in lots of places spiders and cobwebs behind the sofa and other places the cleaners are hoovering around furniture not moving it as underneath the table and coffee table food and dust as a cleaner myself we had to do this every change over day it’s not expectable at least the cleaners did turn up at the accommodation as last place we stayed with Sykes the cleaners didn’t turn up hadn’t been cleaned. A bit of let down with Sykes again not sure who responded for the cleaning if it’s the owner or Sykes . A good cottage in a good location for us . We stay in lots of lodges and cottages in north wales and in Blaenau Ffestiniog.Good Wi-Fi . Good views Everything we needed the owner thought out lots of things and the shed was lots in there to go to beach and crabbing etc . Very well equipped. only thing the tin opener needs replacing I normally take one myself but I had forgotten it things like this could be checked by the cleaners . Stained cups and lots of dirty pans which I had to re wash yet again this should be the cleaners job . myself as had cleaner had to check on all kitchen equipment on every change over day . Couldn’t sit outside the bins smelt of maggots and lots of midges outside and couldn’t sit outside the back garden kept biting us and couldn’t have the windows and doors open they kept coming in . Think the bins should be moved into the car park space, car parking is over the road signed posted . It’s on a small road but lots of public paths so lots of people do walk by . No instructions on who and what days and where the bins go out I only saw the neighbours put them out so I put them out never had to do this before at a holiday let it’s shouldn’t be the guests responsibility to do this. No information pack folder either which normally there is in a holiday let inside the folder instructions on how to use tv . Cooker . Microwave . . Washing . Tumble drying . The wifi code check in and check out times. Owners details. What need to do on check out day strip bedding which I done lot of this in a holiday lets buy normally a laundry bag to put it in there isn’t one . Walks round the area. How far nearest beach. Snowdon . Nearest Bank’s supermarket.pubs cafes. Tearooms . Restaurants . Hospitals . Doctors. . Chemist. . Dentist. Opticians. Etc. my feedback on the first I put bad as Sykes do ask how was the first night they did phone myself the next day and asked did I want a cleaner to come back again I did refuse this as I didn’t want them coming in when I had all my stuff inside. Just slight improvement needed.
