Despite the easing of lockdown measures, unfortunately thousands of couples have had their wedding day cancelled or postponed as a result of the pandemic. The current uncertainty around travelling overseas also means that eloping abroad isn’t a feasible option either. So, with that in mind, we are excited to share a list of viable places that we think would make for a beautiful wedding location during these turbulent times.

Every location on the list is in Scotland, as unlike England and Wales, current Scottish laws are a lot more lenient, allowing couples to get married anywhere, as long as a minister or celebrant is present, whether that be outside in a field or inside of a pub, and during any time of day!

Despite the laws, currently the Scottish government is advising wedding ceremonies should be no more than 20 people and couples must give notice to the district registrar at least 28 days before their planned wedding date. However other than those stipulations, weddings can proceed in Scotland as normal*

Another factor that really swings in the country’s favour is how easy it is to travel to Scotland, as the majority of us Brits can simply drive there, cutting out the need to travel via busy public transport (such as boarding an aeroplane), which many of us are understandably reluctant to do right now.

The final major bonus of saying ‘I do’ in Scotland, is that newlyweds can wrap their wedding ceremony and honeymoon all into one, with Scotland home to some of the most breathtaking scenery the world has to offer.

When compiling the list we’ve considered factors such as Government safety precautions and social distancing guidelines, the number of reported COVID-19 cases within the area, local COVID-19 enforcements in place, venue availability, travel methods and the aesthetic value of the location – all to ensure you can stay safe whilst celebrating one of the most important days of your life.

If you are keen to get married this year and have had your plans affected by COVID-19, check out our top ten best locations to get married in 2020 here:
