What our customers say about their holidays
Lindsay - Verified booking
Overall we absolutely loved our stay and on leaving immediately looked to rebook (fully booked until September unfortunately).
However despite numerous reviews mentioning the broken outdoor furniture this has still not been fixed/replaced which was very disappointing as obviously the feedback is not being actioned by the owners. Our only other criticism was the check in-check out times and the cleaning expectations of guests âdue to covidâ. Check in not until 6pm and check out by 9.30! Presumably to allow for adequate cleaning between guests, except the list for cleanliness to be completed by the guests was outrageous given the check in/check out times. We booked with Menai holidays last year just after the rule change to allow overnight stays in your family bubbles and the check in/check out times werenât even this late/early in the height of the pandemic. We could check in from 3pm and check out by 10am, with much less cleaning expectations placed on the guest. In my opinion the new check in/check out times alongside the new cleaning expectations for guests mean you lose a day of your holiday. It feels very much how can we make more money whilst providing less. I feel this is a bit of a liberty by the property letting company especially given the more acceptable times during the height of the pandemic . Otherwise we loved our stay, loved the property, we have always had excellent experiences as repeat bookers with Menai holidays and would both recommend and use again, however the check in/check out times plus cleaning expectations did disappoint, alongside the property owners lack of attention to previous feedback about the garden furniture. It gave an impression of not being overly bothered about renter feedback as long as bookings continue to be made.

Mermaid Cottage is in a wonderful position with amazing views from the garden and the lounge.
We were a family of 5 (with 2 children aged 10 and 7) and gran, and there was plenty of space inside and out. The lounge and master bedroom were very comfortable, but the ensuite was a bit smelly and needed work. The main bathroom was modernised, but the sink drained extremely slowly and the bath mat was frayed. The mattresses on the single beds weren't supportive and not ideal for grans aching back. We needed to swap 2 around and found that they could do with replacing. The kitchen and utensils are in need of a revamp. The house has a damp problem and we found a slug in the bedroom and on the worktop in the kitchen during our stay. All things that I am sure are on the owners radar, and it looks like they are being addressed slowly. There are a few inexpensive things that the owners could do to help guests. It would help guests if your property information was up to date and in an information folder, rather than scattered around the house. The wi-fi leaflet is out of date. A housekeeping book would also be useful. As there is no dishwasher a small supply of washing up liquid and cloths would be extremely helpful. There is a picnic bench in the garden but nothing comfortable to sit on to make the most of the amazing views and enjoy the space. Info said that there were garden chairs in the shed, which was incorrect. We found 2 wooden chairs but they were broken. We were informed that towels were not provided, but they were. Constructive criticism rather than complaints, as we all enjoyed our stay and I think that the price of the cottage is fair, considering it's wonderful position.

Where to start?
Absolutely fantastic cottage and more than whatâs described, 5 stars in my book. As soon as you walk into the property it feels like youâve come home. From the traditional open fire to the comfortable furniture. From the very peaceful setting to the overall size of the property you already know youâre in a place to relax and unwind. Very well proportioned cottage with two large bedrooms with big beds plus a smaller bedroom with bunk beds for smaller children. Large family bathroom on the first floor and second shower room with wc on the ground floor. The water pressure in the shower is perfect for loosening the tired muscles after a day out walking in the local area. Off road parking for two cars to the side of the property makes for easy access. Large rear private garden with seating for outdoor eating when the weathers up to it. The kitchen comes very well equipped with everything you could possibly need, including insulated cafe pots for those lazy mornings spent lounging around. During our stay we didnât find anything lacking, our hosts even provide dish washer tablets and laundry pods meaning no extra trips to the supermarket. Towels in abundance as well as heated blankets should the temperature drop to something extreme. The heating and hot water are fantastic and akin to a 5 start hotel. The location means youâre not too far from any of the attractions and taking no more than 30 minutes to get to anywhere on the island. All in, this cottage and hosts, give far more than expected and would definitely book this again.

We had the most amazing family break in Sliva, we loved every minute of it.
The cottage feels like home from home, the amenities and facilities were second to none. The kitchen has all the mod cons, everything you need to cook a home cooked meal if you wish, (I recommend to do a big shop before arriving as there is only a Spar nearby). Walks and views are unbelievable, our dog Winston never had so much fun! The town itself, Beaumaris, is charming with some lovely pubs and places to eat in. We recommend the (Bulkeley especially if you have a dog), right on the coast with spectacular views from the beer garden, the whole hotel is dog friendly, even the afternoon tea area. The Bulls head did great dinners and not too far of a drive from Silva (about 6 mins). We found a lovely Indian takeaway in town that delivered to Silva for £3.50 on Just Eat, highly recommend that, it was a lovely treat! I am already looking at availability for 2024 as we want to go back for sure! Thanks so much Emer

Arlan is a lovely, welcoming house.
It is light and bright and feels homely and comfortable. It is beautifully furnished with a nautical, seaside theme which we loved! We found everything we needed in the kitchen and were grateful for the supplies of tea and coffee, washing up liquid etc. The appliances are modern and there are good work services including a useful kitchen island. Everywhere was spotlessly clean and the bedding smelt lovely and fresh. The view from the main bed room is fabulous and on a clear day you can see the sea at Benllech. The houseâs proximity to Benllech is a real bonus! The outside space is really well planned and furnished. It would be great to use on a warm, sunny day. The car parking space also makes life easy. Communication with Jayne, the owner was great. Thank you for a lovely stay, Jayne. We hope to come back to Arlan in the future.
