  Thank you for a very enjoyable two weeks. We have been delighted with your property. The beautiful, peaceful location is perfect. The tasteful and quality fittings and furnishings have made this feel like a real home and the vase of sweet peas that filled the air with their delicate perfume was a lovely welcoming touch. We compliment you on your information folders, they are well thought out and very comprehensive. You have been delightful hosts, thank you for the home-made rhubarb ice cream, it was delicious. We had it with blackberries that we picked on a walk. The Nutmeg in Sayers Lane serves great coffee. Ozgur, the Turkish restaurant, is excellent value, especially the Tenterden Special, 4 courses and coffee with complimentary jalapenos and olives and melon to finish. The manager is very welcoming. There is much to see around here, Hever, Chartwell and Canterbury well worth a visit.

  This was a return visit for us having stayed in 2011, and it felt like coming home! The property is spotless and has everything you require, in a quiet, beautiful and peaceful setting. It is wonderful to be able to listen to and observe the birds....woodpeckers, great tits, pheasant etc...and the squirrel trying to steal the nuts! Readers Retreat is ideally situated to visit many interesting places...Sissinghurst, Great Dixter, Bodiam Castle, Scotney Castle and many vineyards to name a few. Tenterden is a 40 min walk across the fields if you wish and is an interesting well equipped friendly town with good shops and restaurants.There is also an excellent farm shop with café just up the road. We thoroughly enjoyed revisiting places and finding new ones. It was also good to see Amanda again and catch up on news, we shouldn’t leave it so long next time! We highly recommend Readers Retreat.

  We were really happy we chose this location as it was ideally situated in the heart of the Kent countryside and was the perfect base to explore the rest of the county. It was also easy to get to shops, takeaways and pubs for any food or provisions that we needed. The property itself was everything we could have hoped for. The cottage was comfortable and very well equipped, and the garden was a great place to relax and enjoy the good weather that we had. This all came at we thought was a very reasonable price, and compared very well with alternative properties that we considered. Finally we have to say a huge thank you to Chris and Amanda, the owners, who were exceptionally warm and welcoming, and extremely helpful. They made sure that our stay at the cottage was thoroughly enjoyable. We wholeheartedly recommend this property. Ged and Jackie Balk, Lancashire.

  Our second stay at Churchlands, this time in the Old Cowshed minus our dog, last time in Glebe Cottage with our dog. Very comfortable and spacious accommodation, the French oak beams are beautiful and give the interior a period feel, while having modern comforts such as underfloor heating and a hot tub outside. The location is idyllic, very peaceful, with far reaching views of Romney Marsh and over to the Kent Downs. There is a lovely pub - The Ferry Inn - about a kilometre from the property which is great for dinner, or enjoying the golden hour with a drink. I'd recommend Churchlands as a well located base to explore West Kent and East Sussex, or just somewhere to relax. I'm sure we'll be back again in the future.

  A lovely spacious (more so than the photos suggest) cottage in a beautiful setting with a very friendly and unobtrusive host, who left us several welcome treats. The bed is comfortable, extremely fluffy towels and heating very efficient. The wifi is working well enough to stream on the smart tv. The location is excellent, overlooking beautiful trees, sheep and birds at the bird feeder. At 2 miles from Tenterden and supermarkets it is ideal for shopping and eating out. The lane leading up to the property is narrow, but is quiet and has several passing points. Perfect location for visiting gardens and other landmarks. We had an excellent week, feeling very relaxed and we would highly recommend staying here.
