What our customers say about their holidays

Visited twice this year April and September we had already booked a lodge for September and last minute decided to try caravan also in April .Found the caravan entrance door mat grubby and crumbs in cupboards everywhere else fine. I have two Labradors we took their beds they were never in any of the bedrooms. On leaving I hoovered cleaned all benches cooker, oven nothing was left dirty. On return I received a letter stating it had to have a deep clean to say I was shocked and insulted is an understatement. We left immediately after hoovering and everything was left spotless bins emptied you name it.I can only assume I have missed dogs hairs which can only have been in the lounge We did pay for the dogs and surely that covers any hairs left behind from the dogs. There was no damage no spill no marks apart from the grubby door mat that was already there. . Because we had already paid deposit for September we did go back to the lodge .I did not enjoy as I was constantly worrying about dogs hairs.I definitely would not go back as of all the beautiful places we have been to we have never received a letter like this. As for the owners I would have appreciated a detailed report of what the problem was to inform me that it needed a deep clean which I strongly dispute. The owner said she checked the property herself but did she check it previously ,if so why didn’t she check the cupboards and remove grubby front door mat. I respect other people’s property as I do my own. This time on leaving lodge I made a video of the whole property including oven/cooker.I only wish I done this previously. It’s very unfair in receiving a letter like this which I think is probably due to dogs hairs. We were recommended these lodges by our friends Chris and Joan who go every year for 2weeks and also in December We we’re there together inSeptember they have the end lodge they are also our neighbours back home and they fully understand how I feel and would not go back. As for customer service I notice how she acknowledged the people on the next lodge and had a few words with them and yet never said a hello when we were on the porch.Still waiting for explanation on how some dogs hairs require a deep clean.Definitely not recommend this place for that reason. She needs to be honest and state what the issue was and admit she got it wrong as I can’t accept deep clean.

Lovely comfy cottage set in the grounds of the owners home which is in a really peaceful spot.
Glen Dessary was really a home away from home. Double bed was really comfortable and Iâm fussy with beds. The cottage was well equipped with plenty of heaters if required. We used the one in the hall and kept the bedroom and bathroom doors open to warm the rooms and the one in the lounge which warmed the kitchen as well. Thereâs a £1 coin meter for the electric with £7 pre loaded, we put a further £4 in during our stay which I think is perfectly acceptable for a week as the weather was a bit wet and cool. Glen Dessary was really conveniently placed for Fort William and has plenty of shops not far and one pub which we did frequent and was had very good COVID measures in place. We loved the free range chickens that just wandered past the windows which belonged to the owners along with their two dogs that liked to play together. Fort William itself had a larger range of shops especially supermarkets which was most convenient. We did plenty of walks locally as well as a short drive to car parks to start a walk. If staying in the area again I would book this cottage again.

I have already spoken to one Of your colleagues on the phone.
The picture of the lodge suggested quite an open area,in fact with a high solid wooden fence 6 feet high the rear garden was quite claustrophobic. The actual Parkdean park was well cared for, clean, tidy and as you might wish. Unfortunately the lodge was sited on the perimeter of the park set amongst much older properties, next door there was a high stack of old pallets and 2 properties away was a junkyard, in which there was a rusting bus full of weeds, an old filthy caravan and general rubbish. On the other side of the garden fence was a trailer full of scrap metal, and an old boat. On a positive note the lodge itself couldn't be faulted with excellent fixtures and fittings, though lacked some of the usual cooking /preparation implements if you want self catering.

When we arrived it had been raining most of the way to Southerness.
The sky cleared in the evening and we managed to eat the Fish and Chips that we bought at JJs, sitting on the balcony in the sunshine, the suppers were very good, nice well cooked chips and a large fish in batter. Nice outside comfortable waterproof seats and cushions. The property was absolutely great, loads of room in the living area and the bedrooms. Everything was very clean and tidy and there was a wee cupboard with some games. We took with us a cd player to give music on the few days that it rained and we could not go out. The two ladies were able to play bingo in the Mermaid pub whilst I had a beer in the bar. The prices were reasonable fora holiday resort. We had a very good holiday in Cheri and would recommend this property.

The lodge was much more spacious than we are used to and really felt more like a house than a caravan.
It was a real advantage to have such a large and encloses garden area too. The plot is about 1 min walk from the beach which was great too. The area around Southerness is lovely and attractions around Dumphries are worth checking out. The Park Dean resort that this lodge is based is not great and there are some scruffy plots that house old and rusted up caravans. It is perhaps not the best place if you are after lots of resort facilities. Nonetheless, the lodge itself is far better than you will find listed on commercial resorts. The facilities in the lodge are amazing and make the stay really comfortable and enjoyable. If you stay here expect to see lots of wild rabbits who like to come and chill in the garden!
