What our customers say about their holidays

Footpath from car park to Flat door dangerous.
Shock to find the only two Windows in Flat covered in scaffolding making the the flat very dark. We had no prior warning of this. Bathroom very dirty, fan full of airs, shower waste blocked, shower head clogged never been cleaned. Shower screen never been cleaned and mould round the sealant of shower tray. The toilet brush dirty. The two seater sofa and matching arm chair were grubby. The lounge lighting very poor. Kitchen toaster had not been cleaned, baking tray dirty, we had to scrub the drinking mugs. On the corner of the building (outside) next to bedroom window was a motion sensor light. This was clearly faulty as opposed to working, came on for 17 seconds and off for 3 seconds all through the night none stop. The light flashing continually through the night through the gap between ceiling and curtains made it difficult sleeping. The bed in our opinion had seen better days. Given the location of the flat which was very good, we enjoyed Buxton very much but with problems with the flat as described we felt it necessary to vacate the flat after 4 nights instead of the 7 we had paid for. We have taken photographs to backup our critic's.

My partner and I booked The Haven for a week at the end of August.
The Haven is in a large building which has been broken up into Apartments. If you come into Buxton from Ashbourne you will come to Park Road on the left opposite a sign indicating the name of the hill - Park Road is circular. We found the parking spaces to be slightly unclear due to the markings rubbing off but didn't have a problem with not being able to park. The apartment is accessed via an entrance which gives access to apartments 1&2. The apartment is compact but spacious and comfortable. The Kitchen was well appointed with a great level of equipment - we had a small issue because the pans weren't working on the hob but we emailed the owner who resolved it very quickly. We did find it a little dark in the dining area- although the windows are huge the trees provide a lot of shade and the lighting didn't help too much. We were slightly confused by the bins - there are two enclosed areas for recycling and general waste bins but the residents seem to rotate the bins for collection out of the enclosed areas so one bin is not with the other ones. We really enjoyed the Haven, it was a great base to explore Buxton

The apartment is in an excellent location within easy walking distance of shops, buses, the rail station and the opera house.
]Athough it is within easy walking distance of all the town facilities it is set far enough back from the road to be lovely and quiet .It is very well equipped and very comfortable. We appreciated the tea and coffee and bottles of wine and milk which were awaiting us. The cooking facilities were generally excellent with a superb large fridge/freezer and a really good cooker/ceramic hob. The only niggle here was that a couple of the pans were losing their non-stick PTFE coating, resulting is some black specks in food cooked in them. Overall we had a superb week and hope to book the apartment again. The only thing that could have improved our holiday would have been a couple of portable chairs we could have taken out into the garden to enjoy the beautiful sunny weather we had all week.

We really enjoyed our stay at the apartment.
The beds and sofas were very comfortable! Which was obviously a huge bonus, as a lot of the time these are the things that let a place down. It was great the have a washing machine and airer to use. If we were to come to Buxton again we would consider staying here again. Itâs close to all amenities and the welcome pack was wonderful, thank you! I would just like to mention that the cooker needs some TLC. My husband tried to clean out the air vent in the oven just above the door opening, it doesnât seem to stop circulating and was gunked up with dust, dirt and grime and in need of a good clean. Also the shower & screen was also in need of a good clean around the seals of the shower controls etc. Sorry to end on negativity but feel itâs good for the owners to know.

1, Southgate, Buxton 1, Southgate is the third holiday cottage in Buxton that we have rented through Sykes.
Itâs benefits are, firstly, the central location, with on-site parking, which is a major bonus in the town of Buxton. Secondly, the apartment is unusually spacious â the main bedroom would easily accommodate a full-sized snooker table! Daylight is slightly restricted, although this is to be expected in any lower ground floor apartment. The external stairway is easy to navigate, even with luggage; has good handrailing and can be illuminated for safe access at night. Generally speaking, the apartment is definitely up to the high standards that one expects from Sykes, and was clean, comfortable and exactly as described. We have no hesitation in recommending this apartment, and we expect to visit it again in the future.
