  When we arrived at the property, we let our dogs out into the "enclosed garden" only to find that it was not enclosed, and the dogs escaped through an un-gated side entrance.

  Fortunately, the maintenance team addressed this issue the next day by blocking the 3ft pathway with a pallet, which effectively resolved the problem. Thankfully, the dogs were unharmed, but the property should not be described as dog-friendly with an enclosed garden. On the surface, the property's cleanliness seemed fine. However, as we began using the facilities, it became clear that the cleanliness was not up to the expected standard. We found hairs in the kitchen drawers, tea-stained mugs, dirty pans and cutlery, crumbs in the oven, layer of grime onto of oven's extractor fan and fridge (both at eye level) and cobwebs throughout, to name some of the issues. Additionally, the upstairs area had a stale smoke odor and clearly needed a deep clean. Sykes did offer to re-clean the property during our stay, but this was halfway through our visit, which was inconvenient. We didn't want a cleaner there while our belongings were in the property, nor did we want to deal with the awkwardness of having the property re-cleaned while we were there. We also didn't want to restrict ourselves to staying at the property when we wanted to be out enjoying the Cotswolds. The property should have been properly cleaned before we arrived.

  What a beautiful characterful cottage.

  We were really thrilled when we arrived and saw it. Perfect village, lovely friendly pub and shop. Unfortunately though, I have to agree with the recent review about the poor level of cleanliness at the cottage. Cobwebs everywhere, dusty skirtings and very dusty glass ceiling light on the landing. We did not go looking for these things but they were very obvious as was the dust on the DVD player. This cottage has had minimal dusting and hoovering between stays. Such a shame as the property is fantastic. Perhaps time for the owners to change their cleaners to avoid negativity. I would say cleanliness is paramount in people's requirements for a stay away and to enable repeat custom. Lovely welcome pack on our arrival. A lovely stay but just let down by the cleanliness.

  Very disappointed with our stay .

  Lawn was overgrown and garden unkept. Garden furniture was rotten so unusable . There was a note saying new furniture was on order but this was no good for us . Overall cleanliness was poor , cobwebs everywhere. Cooker extractor fan was covered in grease. No answer to any of contact numbers provided . Eventually found an email which was responded too. Our week at Hope cottage was not as planned as weather was perfect but we were unable to dine out in the garden as planned with our grandchildren. Also my letter of complaint with attached photographs has not yet been acknowledged. All very disappointing.

  The cottage was cosy, well-appointed, and spotlessly clean.

  We felt it was even nicer than it looked in the pictures. All four bedrooms were comfortable and a decent size, which made it a good option for a group of friends. The two sitting rooms, one with a TV, would make it a good option with kids as well. There were several pleasant walks along roads and paths, straight from the front door, and some donkeys and horses in the neighbouring fields to say hello to. A hamper of treats was left for us, which was a lovely touch, and the owners were responsive to our messages when we had questions. Check-in and check-out were easy. We would gladly stay here again!

  The most amazing little find!

  We had a beautiful weekend at 4 Wellacres. The cottage is beautiful inside and out, cosy, clean and well equipped. The cottage had more than enough space for 6 adults to enjoy a weekend together but also not be on top of one another. The location is brilliant being so close to Burton on-the Water, Stow on-the wold, Daylesford farm shop and various other stunning Cotswolds villages. All in all it gets a 10/10 from all of us. Thank you again for having us!
