What our customers say about their holidays
Bev - Verified booking
In the good side itâs a cute little hide out in the heart of the town and an easy walking to shops and bars if needed we were seeing family at Christmas .
Some nice thoughtful bits and wine left out on arrival. Underneath this a lot of housekeeping and needs TLC and upgrade repairs as a damp smell is very evident and on all our clothes and blankets so all in wash on return home and not good for allergies as seems an issue with damp , but this in more detail is so going in a seperate note to owner out of respect to them . Not a five star property and some safety bits like the steep stairs and no handrail in sort and big door step at front with a hard lock to open door and sticky keys on back door too. Side is very dark and gate not good to open and shut with sinking stones to walk so not ideal for any one with mobility issues visiting . Lots of bits indoors not quite on point and heating is so difficult to navigate to hot and cold upstairs and down. Dog friendly was not entirely correct for our puppy letâs say that and lots of dog rules as well so hard to keep these and with paying a high cost for the week a bit extensive list of do and donât . Noisy at night with cars racing and people shouting in street, parking a huge challenge even just to unload car as neighbours not friendly near GP surgery and moaned at car opposite garage for one night on yellow line but weather was cold wet and late on arrival so difficult to navigate parking with puppy and being bank holiday side streets were busy too and all on time Limits for cars and car park not cheap either . Need to consider mobility and safety of darkness at night as light is by the back door so very dark otherwise. If you just sleeping quite quaint but not totally great all day and had to clean cooker to cook dinner as all burning and alarms went off so a housekeeping error here . Not really worth the cost in comparison to others we have been too for much less but close to family so that was a bonus was able to leave car and have a ten minute to fifteen minute walk back .Dort key sticky on back door and front door deadlock a challenge and very high door step out for puppy so back door best but gate hard to open and close as was open on arrival and could see why that might be so no lock facility on gate either so a bit unsafe . GP surgery generates a busy full road too so no where to unload car and load car on departure so for a week itâs a challenge to carry it all back to car . So mixed bag but will talk to owner directly on anything else needed to be addressed .Would not stay again .

A perfect property for us. The only shortcoming from our point of view was the lack of wi-fi. The garden exceeded expectations. As we have a dog, we only book properties that claim to have a 'secure garden' but this is the first place we've ever stayed where the garden is truly secure. The kitchen could do with better lighting. It didn't affect us much as we stayed in August and weren't cooking or using the kitchen much after dark. It would be more significant an issue for an autumn or winter let. Most self-catering accommodation doesn't have enough towels, teas-towels, toilet roll or Kitchen roll. Midda Beck was plentiful in all of those items. And it had good sharp kitchen chopping and bread knives (and a pair of scissors in the kitchen) which few self-catering properties have. We would have liked a tea-cosy but that's splitting hairs a bit - and was easy to improvise! The beds and indoor seating is more comfortable than in most properties and there is plenty of garden furniture. The patio is a dream on sunny mornings and the conservatory would be lovely when the weather is less good than it was for us. The property is in a quiet residential culdesac and very conveniently placed for visiting, Snape, Saxmundham, Leiston (all charming little towns) and the coast (especially the lovely Aldeburgh).

The cottage was immaculate and well equipped.
Very well located. It was wonderful to be able to pop out to shop. And walk down to the river so easily. Woodbridge is a very pleasant town. Little st John Street was amazingly quiet considering how very Close it is to the town centre. A delightful few days. Being nearly perfect I would like to suggest a few improvements! There is no dining table except outside. Eating on knees is uncomfortable. Could a small folding one be attached to the wall, positioned where the television is? Folding chairs could be incorporated into the design. Perhaps the TV moved to above the fireplace? The garden is extremely bare! I'm sure it's maintainance free but it is cheerless and shadeless. Easily improved with some very very large pots containing substantial drought resistant small trees ie: Olive and large shrubs: big Rosemarys, cistus, sage. Maybe a parasol. I had a lot of trouble with the key safes. And indeed took a while to be able to unlock the door too. It may just be me at fault but if not might be worth checking Everything so nice to use. Thank you for a really delightful stay.

This cottage was lovely - a really lovely quiet retreat for us having had a ridiculous busy year up to June. We really appreciated the well stocked kitchen (with pans etc) and nice equipment plus the lovely space for entertaining had we had a group with us. We alo appreciated that the TV and Satellite worked well and the location was great with two pubs nearby and the deli for buying dinner and lunch essentials. So close to the marshes for birdwatching and you can walk into Southwold via the bridge and back again over the ferry and evening walks on the beach - fabulous. I also recommend the coffee and cakes at the Tea Shack in the main village and the Anchor pub for food. We slept in the annex as this is the biggest room (and the main bedroom is somewhat dark i.e. no much light coming through), but the annex is superb with the doors on to the patio. In all we were able to completely relax and will likely book again.

We love this cottage, so relaxing, well equipped and clean and easy with the grandparents staying too in the annexe. Great enclosed garden for the dog and a short walk to coop and black dog deli for everything we needed. Thank you, we have been before and will rebook again. Really need a second kettle in the annexe. There was one last time but not this time. Would have been helpful for the mature members of our party to have their own team making facilities. We also failed to get the towel rail working in the annexe, the switch may have been in the locked cupboard. Overall though we love it here and will return. Many thanks and also thank you to housekeeping for bringing us spare sheets and towels.
