  We stayed in South Lodge East last year and had such a wonderful time that we couldn’t wait to come back. The estate is as amazing as we remembered but Palmers Lodge was a big disappointment. The downstairs of the property was cold and damp in spite of putting the heating on. The bathrooms were grubby and cold. There were spiders and bugs everywhere. Our clothing smelled of damp. We were basically very uncomfortable -even the bed seemed damp. The welcome pack would have been more useful if it included a small loaf of bread and a pint of milk. I expected much more comfort from this property and I do not think it is good value for money.

  If you need peace and quiet Palmers Lodge is perfect, just deer, pheasants and rabbits for company. We thoroughly enjoyed our short stay with great walks along the beach from Wells to Holkam. Our stay was in early March so still a nip in the air but on returning to the Lodge and the wood burner roaring away you couldn't ask for more. Lovely welcoming bag with lots of local produce and a bottle of Prosecco and two glasses waiting on the coffee table. Downstairs is an unusual subterranean set up but it works well and there is plenty of natural light via the glass roof above the hall section.

  Palmers Lodge looked beautiful on the website, and when we arrived it did not disappoint. We were delighted with so many lovely things, a fantastic welcome pack, washing up liquid, cloths etc. A bottle of prosecco. Holkham & surrounding villages were really busy but the retreat to Palmers lodge was so tranquil & peaceful & exactly what my husband & I had hoped for, a place to destress after a really busy 6 months at work without a holiday. Definitely recommend & the surrounding pubs, restaurants, take aways & ice cream parlours are outstanding. We will definitely be booking again

  We loved our stay at Palmers Lodge in the Holkham Estate. What an absolute treat it was to stay in such a quirky place with bags of history it felt like an honour to be allowed to stay there. Great location for simply relaxing or like we did, walk for miles in every location to beautiful beaches. Quality bedding and furnishings added to comfort along with lovely Holkham products a plentiful. All the staff in cafe, parking and gift shop were so friendly and welcoming. Wildlife everywhere to watch and appreciate!!! Thank you for a great time!!

  Just to say that we loved staying at Palmers Lodge and were sorry to have to leave. Above all it was such a pleasure to be staying in an interesting property in such a wonderful setting - we have had a lot going on at home and staying there provided us with just the peace and tranquillity that we needed. Also, so importantly, the bed was really comfortable, the sofa was comfy with lots of lovely rugs and there was a good level of heating and sufficient hot water.
