  The cottage is in a lovely location.

  It's very quaint and comfortably furnished. The sofa and king size sleigh bed are very comfortable. We spent a lot of time in the large well equipped kitchen/ diner looking out at the river, which was lovely. There was a lovely welcome pack for us and our dog, which was a nice touch. The communication and instructions from owners slso very comprehensive. We never had any problem with hot water for bath or shower and the heating is controlled by hive thermostat so you can alter if needed. The cottage was always warm and we were never cold, despite not using the log burner. There is a Pub within walking distance and 3 others within a 10-20 min drive. There is a Spar inside the local garage for emergency provisions, but we had asda delivery whilst there The cottage is nicely situated for exploration of the south coast. We visited many beaches whilst there, all within 30 mins-1hr away. We also visited stonehenge which was an hour away. You don't need to leave the village if you just want somewhere peaceful to relax. My partner caught fish in the river too, which he was delighted about. We were very lucky with the weather though. 17 degrees and sunny mid October. The owners are lovely and were very kind to allow a short overstay due to storm babet.The housekeeper is also friendly and was happy to advise places to visit based on your interests We would strongly recommend the cottage for a holiday.

  The holiday cottage was very clean and welcoming.

  The location with the river meant you could see wildlife from the windows and the rear patio and over the week we saw fish, crayfish, egrets, heron, voles, squirrels and rabbits. Not forgetting the swans which demanded their breakfast every morning! The kitchen had everything you would need and more for a keen cook. The welcome pack was lovely and much needed after a long journey the bread and cheese in particular were a big hit with the family. Claire next door came to ensure we had what we needed and gave us recommendations on where to eat and places to go. We were visiting Dorset to visit Monkey World after my daughter had watched the programmes in lockdown and this was about 40 mins away. Weymouth was about 25 minutes, Lyme Regis 40 mins. We were happy to travel and also found lovely walks from the village. The village shop over the road stocked some nice items and the Spar shop at the garage was also good. The local pub (Chalk and Cheese) not very good and the food would not be recommended but the nearby villages had nice places to eat but need to be booked. We enjoyed our stay at Riverside.   The property itself was exactly as described, really spacious and really well stocked with everything we needed.

  The location was 10/10 being central to everything and within walking distance of the town, beaches, shops and pubs. The welcome hamper was a lovely touch and the items included much appreciated. Some feedback on just a few things that could do with some attention. The sofa has seen better days and the end two seats are broken, meaning that you gradually slide between the seats. Whenever anyone turned on a hot tap or the shower, the boiler in the loving space makes a loud rattling noise. Not sure what this was but again could maybe benefit from being looked at. Great that a garage is provided and we noted that dimensions were provided on the website but maybe just a note to add that it fits small to medium sized cars. We wouldn't have been able to fit our SUV and be able to get out the vehicle once parked in there. The garage was also blocked by a parked car when we arrived so we had to knock on doors to find the owner and ask them to move it. Just to add, none of the above dampened our stay and are just some suggestions for improvement. Overall, we had a great few days.

  House was in a good spot, perfectly placed for our Coast Path walking. It was just the right size for three sisters, and easy to warm up. Kitchen better equipped than some larger houses we've stayed in. Bus stop on the road right outside the complex was really useful. When we had an issue with finding the light switch (!) the Sykes out-of-hours respondent was super helpful - thanks. A couple of things would make it even more comfortable: There's a strong smell of dog, which must be fairly constant given the Febreze provided. If you got rid of the throws on the sofas, it would help a lot. We didn't use the bigger sofa at all as the smell was so strong. The mattress on the small double is the squeakiest I've ever encountered. A folder of info about the house itself - eg. how the cooker, microwave etc work, would be more useful than the Lyme Bay generic folder. In fact, we were confused to find that the house is managed by LB Hols when we'd booked via Sykes. I'm sure there's a good reason, but it would be good to be told. Thanks.

  The flat smells badly of gas and damp.

  lt is much shabbier inside and out than it looks in the photos. Most of the furniture is cheap and aging and the carpet in the living room needs cleaning. This is the second property we have booked through Lyme Bay Holidays and will be the last as neither property lived up to the description or to the ratings of other guests. There is some kind of animal living in the roof above the last bedroom. It was impossible to sleep in there due to loud scratching at night. The washing machine had foul water lying in it and even after we ran an empty cycle, it still had a foul smell. We didn’t use it. We had to buy batteries to get the heating thermostat and the TV remote control to work. This was explained in the flat information file but should obviously be checked before new guests arrive! My husband had to remove the bodies of 2 dead rats lying in front of the garage. The neighbour removed a third. There appears to be a problem there. The only thing we enjoyed was the location.
