What our customers say about their holidays
Catherine - Verified booking
The cottage itself is excellent and we enjoyed our stay.
It is comfortable and well equipped. The location is great. It is against all the many positives that with regret I am leaving what may be seen as negative feedback. I am sorry to do this. The main thing for me was that the cottage was not as clean as I would expect. There were large dusty cobwebs in the living room around the furniture and lamps and across the window and in one of the bedrooms. It is the only time I can recall having to reach for a feather duster shortly after arrival. The floor was not properly clean. A highchair had been left out and there was dirt around it and just under the cupboard and other furniture. Worse still there were lots of large cobwebs hanging in two of the base cupboards and immediately hanging down as you opened the doors. You couldnât get into the cupboard. Feather dusting kitchen cupboards was a first for me. Some of the crockery was dirty and had not been checked. The two frying pans need replacing. They both stick horribly as the non stick surface has worn off. The handle on one wobbles so much it feels like it will fall off. The side panels of the bath are dirty and need cleaning. The bathroom door is very swollen and sticks horribly. It needs to be freed. The bathroom is otherwise really well fitted with quality appliances and a good shower. It is such a pity. The toilet brush was broken and unusable with the handle completely detached. How did the cleaners not notice? The absence of a useable toilet brush was unacceptable. I am really sorry to have to give what will seem like negative comments. I really didnât want to do this. The cottage is great but the quality of cleaning detracted from it. We felt the cottage and owners were let down by this.

The property is situated in a perfect location 2 minutes from Sandsend sea front.
You do need to climb a few steps to get there though the quaint cottages in the location. On entering the property you enter the kitchen and living room area which are spacious and very well equipped with everything you would need on holiday, including a washing machine, dish washer, slow cooker and coffee pod machine. There are three bedrooms on the next two levels and one bathroom on level two and an en suite on level three. You can see the sea from level three. The beds were very comfy! The garden is levelled and a lovely space with a sea view from the top of the garden. We watched the sun rise from here on one of the days. The property is in a perfect location and you can see Whitby Abbey in the distance. There is a lovely Wits End Cafe 2 minutes one way and The Hart Inn pub 2 minutes the other way. There is on road parking but this is limited, although we were lucky every day that we stayed and managed to get a space. There is a public car park only a minute away though. Unsure of charges. In all I would recommend this property but do think it would benefit from a deep Clean to freshen it up. No complaints from us and I would definitely recommend it to anyone visiting Whitby.

Had a fab week at Carignore.
House has great views of the beach and towards the Abbey at Whitby. Brill sunrises and moon rises each day. House is well equipped with mostly all you would need. Could do with a bbq area and a grill pan in the kitchen grill. Living room sofas and chairs were not very comfy and rug in living room could be a trip hazard ( just wouldnât stay in place). Bed rooms all comfy and slept right through every night. Upstairs could do with decorating following a leak in the main bedroom but we were warned about this prior to our stay. Owner very helpful and owned next door so was there for the first 2-3 days of our stay. Parking on site could be an issue for a nervous driver- we found ir best to reverse part way up the lane to park But there is parking in the village if you donât mind a walk to the house Village itself was lovely. Pub doing food and a few cafes and a fish and chip takeaway/restaurant. No local shop to get daily bread, milk etc. Beach was busy most days and part dog friendly. Would stay again if we were inclined to travel that far again. 6-7 hr drive for us. Thanks for a great weekâ¦â¦

We have just returned from the most wonderful stay at Bay View Cottage near Robin Hoodâs Bay.
The setting is absolutely beautiful and the views are just incredible! The cottage is cosy, homely and very well equipped. It was also immaculately clean. There was always plenty of hot water available and the heating worked very efficiently. The kitchen has all the things you need to prepare and cook. The children also loved the climbing frame and slide in the lovely garden area behind the properties. The courtyard is very pretty and full of sun in the morning. It is also very spacious for parking cars and unloading luggage straight in through the kitchen door. There was no lugging of heavy items or boxes for any distance! The gorgeous beaches and pretty villages are a short drive from the cottage, though walkable for those who perhaps want to do so with dogs and without little ones. Our dog also felt very at home! Aldi and Sainsburyâs are an easy ten minute drive away. We absolutely loved our stay here and we will be back to enjoy more of the beautiful Yorkshire coast. Thank you so much to June and Alan for a fantastic holiday.

The property is in need of some repairs.
The showers donât work well. Downstairs toilet and shower is not working right. Mouldy shower upstairs. The radiators were thick with dust. I could hardly breathe in there as I have mild asthma which was made worse by the dirty radiators. The blinds are all dirty. The curtains should be black outs to help sleep. The couch downstairs was not very comfortable. The kitchen is basic and functional but very old and tired. Glass broken in internal door. Big Mirror upstairs in single bedroom is just placed on the chest of drawers. My daughter was closing a drawer and the mirror nearly smashed on her, that mirror needs putting on the wall for safety. The hair dryer is probably 30 years old, itâs rubbish. The carpets feel old and dusty. The gate is old and rotten and the lock has rusted off. The beds were comfortable and the linen and towels were clean. The views are amazing and the proximity to the beach and restaurants of Sandsend is perfect. House just needs a major refurb, it doesnât feel like anythingâs been done for 20 years.
