7 Dale End.
...Just perfect for us and our 2 dogs. So glad we managed to come a cross this gem. Set in Danby a lovely quiet moorland village with 2 great local pubs ,shop & Bakery close to lots of moorland walks & coastal areas by car. The Cottage is very well presented - clean tidy & warm on arrival.Furnished and decorated nicely throughout a mixture of country with a modern twist. Lovely large well stocked Kitchen /dinning area with plenty of pots, pans etc for those who wish cook has nice wood burner in it too had everything we needed. From the kitchen is access to a good size utility room which also has it own access from outside...this was a massive bonus for us with our 2 dogs...perfect for wet dogs to dry off and store boots and outside gear. The utility also had to dog beds in. Another added bonus was to the side of the property is an outside tap with hose handy for washing down muddy dogs, bikes and boots!!!washing machine, small counter freezer and boiler all in utility room. Living room isn't the biggest but lovely, cosy and comfortable Wood burner and smart TV perfect for winter nights in after a day exploring. 3 bedrooms1 bathroom upstairs. We slept in the master bed was massive and so comfortable and splendid views from the window. All bedrooms nicely presented- as was the bathroom. Fabulous garden to both front & Back of property....we loved it & so did our dogs!! We have a Lab & a J.Russell who were both secure in the garden and it is big enough for them to have a play around in..One of the best gardens compared to other properties we have stayed in pevious. Better than in the pictures!! Outside dinning area & lawn at the back perfect for the summer months. We have really enjoyed our stay at 7 Dale End so much so we plan to come back..the property met our needs and we have felt relaxed and comfortable thru out.Would definitely recommend. A couple of slight gripes but nothing major or enough to put us off returning would be bath towels are not very large would prefer later or take own. No Whisky tumbler / small size glasses .No personal welcome hamper like you get at some cottages...all that said it didn't effect of spoil our stay and not the end of the world!! Finally think it is always nice to have a guest handbook for guest to leave feed back for new guest and thank property owners we always enjoy reading previous guest comments first cottage we been too that hasn't had one!! Only issue we had was locating Guest handbook and property info folder not left in normal places you would expect took ages to find and had to ring owner for Wi-Fi code who was extremely helpful and asked if we we were happy and comfortable with the property...we did eventually we did find folder in a kitchen drawer !!! LOL.

We were looking for somewhere that could sleep 6, accommodate 2 dogs and 2 cars near Robin Hoodâs Bay last minute ish as we booked mid May to stay the first week of July.
Only 4 of us stayed in the end due to other commitments. The cottage is lovely as is the courtyard and the instructions from the owners were great. A couple of reasons why Iâve given 4 rather than 5 stars, the decor is a bit dated, to be fair the photos are accurate so not a surprise, but a change of carpet and new tablecloths would make a huge difference as well as getting rid of the random plates in the window alcoves and the ornaments, there were also a few cobwebs. We stay in cottages pretty frequently and Byre Cottage is the only time we have come across single ply toilet paper, you donât need to get triple ply, quilted, but I didnât even know you could still buy single ply loo roll. There were teabags, coffee and sugar which is always nice. Not so nice was the empty salt, no hand soap, washing up liquid and one dishwasher tablet for a weekâs stay. I donât mind bringing these things, but when you donât know theyâre not provided that itâs annoying. Every other cottage weâve ever stayed in has provided pump hand soap and either washing up liquid, dishwasher tablets or both. The hot taps in the en suite and the kitchen were difficult to stop as you would think it was off for it to then start a slow trickle and we would have to really turn it tightly to stop it. The shower in the en-suite was great, good temperature, good water pressure but would take on average 6 presses of the on/off switch to turn off which was weird. DVD, TV and dated skybox, thereâs a DVD you can âaskâ to watch, maybe stretch to a copy for each cottage or hit the charity shop for a few classics, I appreciate DVDs are a thing of the past but when only the TV in the master bedroom had Netflix and Prime other options are better as I donât want to sit on my bed watching tv with my family. We bought a few DVDs for 50p each when we were out and about as there wasnât even iplayer on the tv in the living area. If tv in the bedroom had been downstairs that would have solved it. Some leaflets with details of local walks and attractions or a couple of books about the local area would have been nice to have. That said the welcome pack did say you could call at the house to ask for anything and replace later or buy it at the time. We accidentally left a dog bed but the £15 charge before P&P to return it to us was a bit steep so we will just buy another one. Directions to Robin Hoodâs Bay were easy to follow and itâs a nice 30 minute walk to get there. Byre Cottage is a great base for exploring this part of the country and I would recommend it. A pleasant stay but with a few tweaks would have been a great stay.

On arrival was informed heating was turned off but told it got colld at night ?
?. we could however acess 15mins of heat from the electric fire by presing a button. On going to bed the sheets and duvet felt damp and cold and the mattress was cheap lumpy and well past its sell by date. all the other beds where the same. Dog Friendly poroperty ??. Once we found the information book we read the entry on dogs. No pet is to left alone in the property for any time and we would be asked to leave on return without a refund if we did. This is rediculous how can you take the dog everywhere with you. Free on site kennels didnt exist full of bins and rubbish. front and back doors patched up with fence panels and not painted. single armschair base had collapsed. shower curtain fell in the bath at first use [cheap extending thing. toilet loose on floor. Sky channels dont exist its freeview only which has a poor signal and breaks up all the time. The remote dosnt work on all the essential buttons so had to keep getting up and manually do it. Whole place just looks run down and skimping on the heat gives the place a musty smell. This cottage has no views of open countryside like the others a fact missing from the description in fact the windows look onto brick walls and are so small you have to have lights on in the daytime. Front Garden has no fence at one end so dog cant be let out without supervision. At just short of £500 for 3 nights expected better check out 9am amd check in 4pm is a bit strong too. British holiday in live all the beaches seem shut to dogs £45 in parking for 3 days. going abroad next year after 40 years of holidaying in the UK enoughs enough. I have pics to back up all i have said in this review. Although i,m sure it will be removed

The property was very nicely decorated, warm ,comfortable and welcoming.
There was a good selection of pots and crockery as well as games and movies. It was obvious that great care and attention had been taken to make visitors enjoy their stay. The property was in a good location and only a short walk to Whitby town centre. Building renovation work is ongoing on the street although generally it is a quiet location. On street parking was difficult on some occasions. It was unfortunate that some areas of cleanliness within the property were not up to the expected standard . For example the oven was not clean although foil had been placed in the grill pan. There were three oven trays which were all unfit to use, however these were quickly replaced by the local sales and support team. The bathroom shower safety mats were unfit to use and these were not replaced during our 7 day vacation. The upper shower room is very compact. The shower itself was really nice, however as a shower water is expected to splash on the base during use but the tray was very slippy. Without a safety mat or bath floor mat to step onto when getting out of the shower the floor was also slippy. There was not much room to move about when getting out of the shower or using the sink. Small issues such as dust under furniture and in air extractor vents were noticed. We were asked to remove bedding on leaving which we did. The top bedding as lovely. However two of the actual quits were stained and four of the pillow protectors were very badly stained and not , in our view, suitable for multiple visitors. While these were small points which did not spoil our stay , once again in our view, they let the property down.

7 Dale End was very comfortable and the kitchen was well supplied with essentials.
Danby is fairly peaceful and has a âgetaway from it allâ feel. We went out in the car everyday and enjoyed going to the coast, Skinningrove, Staiths and Runswick Bay are favourites of ours and so Danby is a good base and makes a nice change. The views from the back windows have nice scenery to the right. I did sit in the garden and read, not as peaceful as you would think but I did get a few quiet reading sessions in the garden. There are a few things I would like to mention but nothing spoiled our stay here and we had some good sleeps in the very comfortable beds. When we arrived at the house there was an overpowering smell of garlic in the doorway and when we went inside the smell was setting off the fire alarm and hurting our ears and making us feel sick so hubby had to cut back the wild garlic that was growing in the doorway, we were both heaving until we got rid of the smell, there is still some growing around the back of the house. Someone kept parking a blue Hyundai outside the gate halfway on the pavement, this was our only entry/exit making us have to lift larger items over the fence to and from our car and this was parked nearly all day everyday. Just a couple of points to mention but we really enjoyed ourselves and would recommend 7 Dale End.
