Gower Holiday Cottages

The Gower Peninsula is known for its sandy beaches, limestone cliffs, forests and moors. There is a vast selection of activities and attractions in Gower for you and your family or friends to explore on your last-minute holiday.

Reasons to Visit The Gower Peninsula

Beaches

The Gower Peninsula was the first Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty in the UK and is a favourite for families and friends every year. Gower has a vast coastline and many beaches; three have won the prestigious Blue Flag Beach award: Bracelet Bay, Langland Bay, and Caswell Bay. Many of Gower's beaches are great for surfing as well as lazy beach days. Its coves and bays are magical; Brandy Cove is a small, secluded cove away from the main beaches. If you are looking for a less busy day on the beach, these small coves are the answer.

Walking

Gower is so well known for its beaches; the inland areas can sometimes be missed. As an AONB there are plenty of incredible walks, trails, and National Trust sites to follow, like the one at Rhossili. Perched above the beach, this coastal walk lets you explore the surrounding area and see the incredible views. There is also an 11 mile circular walk at Cefn Bryn, which covers some amazing sights, including Arthur's Stone. You'll also see the village of Penmaen, woodland, rolling hills, marshes and mudflats. If that doesn't fulfil your walking needs, the whole Gower Coast Path is 39 miles long and will take three to five days to complete. A hard day's walking can be strenuous, and returning to your cosy last-minute cottage is always lovely. For those intense walkers who need to relax their muscles, many of our cottages have hot tubs, perfect for a post-walk soak.

Where to Stay on the Gower Peninsula

If you go to Gower for a beach-based holiday, you are best off being on the peninsula's south side. The large village of Newton is only a short walk or drive from all three Blue Flag beaches. You want to be more central or northern for a walking holiday. However, if you are walking the coastal route, you can pick it up anywhere between Crofty and Mumbles. Nearer Swansea is the best choice if you want to be able to mix town and countryside. We're confident you will find the right cottage with us, thanks to our combination of choice, best-price guarantee and exclusive member discounts.

Places to Visit in Gower

Swansea is a buzzing seaside city known for its incredible waterfront and beach.

Rhossili is a quaint coastal village above the stunning Rhossili Bay Beach.

Port Eynon is a small village peppered with holiday homes a short walk from Port Eynon Beach.

Mumbles is a village on a headland with a fantastic beach below and a Victorian Pier.

What our customers say about their holidays

  • Mrs Grindley - Verified booking

After several emails and phone calls to your company throughout the week regarding our dissatisfactory stay at The Pines, I am emailing to make a formal complaint with the issues we experienced and the lack of resolution. I would like to mention that the bedding and towels were lovely, and we had plenty of hot water throughout the stay. Cleaning - Poor cleaning throughout the property including dust and cobwebs, finding a pizza in the microwave on arrival, old/used coffee pods in the machine. Hot tub - information booklet states the hot tub should be cleaned x3/week. It was not cleaned during our stay. This is a significant health issue, and we now worry the hot tub was not cleaned prior to our stay between guests. Coffee machine - this broke towards the start of our stay and tripped a fuse. We were advised by the company to stand on a plastic bar stool to switch the trip back on. This is an entirely inappropriate suggestion, not knowing the make up or abilities of our group and not taking into account our health and safety. No coffee pods were provided as per the Information booklet. We did eventually receive a new coffee machine, however this was also faulty and leaked water. Dishwasher - this broke towards the start of our stay and was not fixed. Only x2 tea towels and a bathroom hand towel were provided by housekeeping at the start of the stay, and we only received additional materials to wash up with on Thursday after having to request these. We have spent countless hours of our holiday washing up, for 8 people minimum x3 per day. Fridge - faulty, freezing our food despite being at reasonable temperature. This is a food safety issue and subsequently we had to throw food away, we expect the approx cost of this to be at least £200 across the week - including raw and cooked meats, fish, cheeses, dips, milk, fruit/veg, yoghurts etc. A maintenance company attended on Thursday, the issue was not fixed. Games room - no heating, and therefore not usable at certain times of the day due to being so cold. We did not accept the box of chocolates sent by the company, as we quite frankly found this offensive given the amount of issues and lack of resolution we experienced. We have holidayed in self catering properties for many years, and unfortunately this experience has been very disappointing.

I would not stay here again. It was extremely noisy, the handles on doors weren’t working properly so you couldn’t close them, this meant they banged through the night with the wind. The attic above the bedroom is very noisy. The water tank (I am guessing) sloshes around all night and makes it difficult to sleep. The beds, although we received mattress toppers eventually, were totally unacceptable. It speaks volumes that the property was rented out in such a condition, it is all quite tired and needs a bit of TLC. The oven door was broken on arrival and we used it as our young children needed their dinner and the glass smashed to pieces. Very dangerous. All in all, a great location, the living area is very spacious, as are all the rooms, but it didn’t feel very comfortable being there for the week and I wouldn’t return or recommend. I would also not use original cottages again as their communication is extremely poor and they absolved themselves of any responsibility saying it was the owners responsibility, but seeing as the number on the PDF was incorrect and the adjacent property was no help, the company should have assisted further.

I was absolutely delighted with Beach Rocks! It is a stunning property and I really enjoyed the views, the sea air with the large sliding doors. It is also in a very quiet location (I went in April) and the locals are really welcoming and say hello to you. Beach Rocks has everything that you need whilst away and I really enjoyed cooking and eating in the kitchen / diner. The whole house has a lovely feel to it and it's lovely to spend the evenings in the court yard garden. A brilliant place to entertain and enjoy the evening sun! For me the bedroom was amazing with it's views of the sunrise and it was the perfect place for me to recover after a long stay in hospital. The local beaches, cafes and walks are all on your doorstep and it's so easy to walk 2 miles or 20 along the beautiful coastal paths. I drove to Three Cliffs which is a good day out and to Rhosilli for a long beach walk and a lovely cafe overlooking the ocean. The owners of Beach Rocks were lovely and welcoming and very helpful. I'll be back for sure!!! Thank you!!!

Beach Rocks lived up to our expectations and beyond. The location was idyllic, loved Langland Bay and all the other capes and bays, this was our first visit to The Gower and hopefully it will not be our last. For an AONB it was certainly outstanding! The details of Beach Rocks made it unique in many ways, loved the lights on the stairs and the generous width, the larger than average doors added a great feel to the property. We did worry about the pristine white surface and sink, we lay the kitchen towel ( folded in half) over the draining board to give protection. Would have preferred curtains in the bedroom really, then you could pop your head through them to weigh up the weather, and also open them a tad to see out while in bed without feeling you could be seen! However, the concept and design throughout was inspired, we really enjoyed life in a box, but what a box, and what a view!!

Beach Rocks is a spectacular place to stay. The full glass frontage of the house allows you to stare out across the Bay from the minute you wake up. The accommodation was perfect for us (3 adults), with a comfortable sitting area, 2 bathrooms, dining area, and modern, well-equipped kitchen. There was a luxury hamper when we arrived containing lots of special Welsh treats and a very well written and informative guide to the house and the area. The nearby Coastal Path is great for strolling to the neighbouring Bays and the beautiful, sandy beaches are ideal for family holidays. The Mumbles has lots of nice shops and cafes and we also visited the Abercrave Caves, Swansea, Cardiff and Barry Island. Langland Bay is ideal for swimming and surfing and there were always people in the water and even a very friendly seal!
