  Despite being assured when I booked the holiday that the house would be clean, unfortunately it wasn’t.

  We couldn’t use the freezer as it was so iced up, I had to wash the fridge and the cutlery drawer before we used them. The oven was filthy so couldn’t use that. The seals on the bottom of the shower doors were filthy with black grime. The house looked generally uncared for. Wallpaper peeling off in the lounge. Door handles scratched. The duvet covers were not fastened. There was a dead wasp in the kitchen window which had obviously been there some time and there was also a dead worm on the lounge carpet in the corner. As far as we could tell all the cleaners had done was hoover the carpets without moving anything and flick a duster round. Fortunately apart from the shower doors the bathrooms were ok.All the window sills needed a good clean, the back yard needed weeding and the furniture jet washing. Given the fact the fact that we have been in lockdown and the property can only have been open a few weeks this house has obviously not been given a deep clean before re-opening. When we had finished unpacking I gave the dog a drink of water, he splashed some on the kitchen floor which I immediately wiped up with clean kitchen paper towel, which, when I looked at it (the kitchen towel) was filthy, obviously the floor hadn’t been washed very well. I really don’t like complaining but having seen negative reviews on trip advisor I raised the questions of cleanliness when I booked the house. Unfortunately I can’t remember the young mans name who made my booking but he was very helpful and contacted the owner who said there had been a problem with the cleaner but this was resolved and the house would be clean. Having been to a cottage in Saltburn last year which was absolutely spotless I booked with confidence. I feel that we should be recompensed in part as we definitely did not receive the quality we paid for and expected. Photographic evidence can be supplied.

  My family and I recently had the pleasure of staying at this property, and I must say, it truly exceeded our expectations in every way.

  From the moment we arrived, we were impressed by the immaculate cleanliness and meticulous attention to detail throughout the entire property. It was evident that the staff takes great pride in maintaining a high standard of hygiene, instantly making us feel at home. Upon entering, we were warmly greeted with a thoughtful welcome pack that included refreshments and drinks, setting a delightful tone for our stay. The kitchen was a fully equipped, boasting an abundance of facilities, from pots and pans to washing machines and dryers, all of which were well-maintained and easily accessible. The beds were incredibly soft and comfortable, ensuring a restful night, and the room's thoughtful amenities, such as hair dryers, lamps, and alarm clocks, added to our convenience. The location was ideal, offering easy access to shops, restaurants, numerous attractions, and the beach. Despite its convenient position, the property remained pleasantly quiet, providing a peaceful retreat. The only minor downside was the parking situation. Although we were provided with parking permits (much appreciated), finding available spots was challenging due to the area's zoning rules. While this did pose some inconvenience, it's understandable and doesn't reflect on the property's quality. However, future guests should be aware of this aspect if travelling by car. In conclusion, I highly recommend this property to anyone seeking a clean, comfortable, and well-equipped place to stay. The combination of excellent facilities, attentive service, and cosy accommodations made our stay truly memorable. We will definitely be returning and eagerly recommending it to family and friends!   A lovely cottage and generally very well equipped with super comfortable beds and thick fluffy towels. However the hot water was dangerously hot and would have presented a real danger to small children. It was annoying to have to rearrange the kitchen cupboards in order to store our food, there was no reason to fill every cupboard with cottage equipment when we managed to fit them more logically and efficiently. Another problem was the oven glove supplied,a lovely thought but it was so thin we had burnt fingers. It would have been nice to have been told about the mouse traps not because we have a problem with them but so as to not leave dead mice for 2 weeks. The light switches are far to complex, we never did work out how to switch on the outside lights, which was annoying now that the clocks have gone back, some labelling would have been most helpful as would a light further up the garden in what is otherwise a very dog friendly cottage.

  Clean and comfortable place to stay.

  Great location for arriving by train, (over the road from train station). The facilities were outstanding, Washer and drier made life really easy meaning I could still keep up with the wash load, with little disruption to my holiday. (as cook, cleaner and bottle washer, to my husband and four children a holiday can sometimes mean no break for Mum). I had a wonderfully relaxing time. We were situated in walking distance of some lovely beaches, such as Cayton Bay and Cornelian Bay both accessed from the Cleveland way for lovely day hikes. South bay beach is just 10 mins away, Great for an evening stroll along the beach and end with delicious Fish and Chips by the lighthouse, You could even be lucky enough to see a pod of Dolphins in the Harbour as we did.

  I think that the steepness of the stairs should be mentioned we found the upper tier very hard to access.

  The garden is in a disgusting state the overgrown bushes harbour biting flies. Very unkempt. The towels are so small we thought they were face cloths. The whole of the internal decoration needs some TLC. No instructions when to put the bins out so missed bin lorry. A garden umbrella would have been an advantage. The house is well situated to visit the local attractions. Parking was not a problem we parked outside the house with ease every day. The house is ok but does not have the video and a very poor television and games as stated in the advertisement. All in all we had a very good holiday but the house is tired and neglected.
