What our customers say about their holidays
Ms Amanda Habens - Verified booking
Regarding the cleanliness, we have compiled a list as I feel you need to know. 1. Vacuum cleaner - completely full (we emptied it) 2. Grill pan - not cleaned since last used (we cleaned it) 3. Dishwasher filter was disgusting - it was like glue. Goodness knows when it was last cleaned (I did it of course) 4. Family bathroom toiler not clean (we did it) 5. Extractor hood not working at all 6. Heating unclear, we did our best. When we arrived all the radiators were blazing out heat and it was very hot in the house. The kitchen radiator never turned off 7. The dining table was sticky and the bench - attracting the ants that were in that end of the kitchen (we cleaned it) Given the price of the hire (we have stayed at 3 of your properties in Mumbles) and obviously this is a large house but none of the properties are cheap - I do not expect to have to clean on arrival!! I am happy to pay if the cleaning is thorough and this one was not. Also there was a great deal of dust in the main en suite bedroom where I slept, on the bedhead and bedside tables and the tables had not been moved and cleaned behind for some time. There were children's hairbands on the carpet of the bunk room so had the floor been cleaned? Despite these complaints we had a lovely stay and the weather was very kind, so thank you. PS Some other suggestions in the book by previous guests obviously have not been sorted - the light over the dining table flashing, 1 tea towel was provided but it did not look clean - of course we took our own. Also some spare toilet rolls would be helpful, until you get a chance to shop.

We were, initially, very excited upon entering Plas Elyn.
You can tell that the owners spent a lot of time and money doing the place up. I really enjoyed cooking in the kitchen and sitting in the dining room with a cosy blanket when it became chilly. The house has an amazing view and despite incredibly grumpy neighbours (actually, the woman not the man) we were very happy to be there. Unfortunately, there were a few things that were things with the house that caused real concern, which led us to think that either the current owners were duped when they purchased the house, or its on them. - The main room smelt of damp - there is definitely a leak in the house. The sooner they address this, the better for all concerned. - The boiler stopped working at least x4 times that we know of. As above re fixing - The stairs to the living area are unsafe - The radiator in the bedroom with the en-suite, never came on (this is where my mother-in-law was sleeping, so not good). In addition to that, the housekeepers forgot to leave towels in the loft rooms, and we were unable to use one of the loft rooms, because the carpet was soaking due to a previous guest. We could absolutely cope with the last two issues, however the heating/no hot water x4 times and the issue with the stairs left us very concerned with this property. I would hope the owners have the conscience to resolve our biggest concerns ASAP before someone really gets hurt. Kind regards Tina

The cottage was in a lovely situation and very comfortable BUT there were several things not to our satisfaction.
The small shower unit in the main bedroom was a bit archaic with the water ranging from hot to cold without much notice. The grouting is in a bad state of repair and needs renewing urgently. A number of the taps in the cottage could do with a dose of WD40 to free them up. Likewise a number of the controls on the radiators are very stiff and some will not move. The directions to the cottage are a bit misleading and could do with a re-write. There was confusion when we tried to contact the person on the confirmation booking form regarding collection of the keys. There was no reply and we had to contact Sykes HQ for information. It was then we were informed "Oh there is a box on the wall where you need to put in a code number to access the keys" How were we to know this The instructions for the television were very confusing and we had to ask the lady who helps to maintain the cottage for help on several occasions. Even then we could not delete the subtitles. A shelf in the fridge kept falling down and we ruined a jar of marmalade because of this as it crashed to the floor. It seemed that one of the bits of plastic that kept it in the fridge door had previously been damaged prior to our visit. Despite these problems we enjoyed our stay and the lady who helped with the tv was most helpful.

Stayed for a week in August, we were apprehensive as the previous guests reviews were not so good.
Well all I can say is what a bunch of petty snobs this cottage is lovely. It has huge character and is everything you should expect for an old building. Yes it hasn't got any mod cons but if you want that then best get a flash apartment in st ives. As for the cleanliness then a few cobwebs in the windows is the only issue. The en suite is small but serves it's purpose, the bedrooms are cosy, living area and kitchen cosy and basic. Now it's not all a plus so here's a few negatives ..the frying pan is to small, the main bed is a hard, the oven takes about an hour to heat up( it gets there in the end) oh and if you don't like the countryside it's not for you the cows outside your window in the morning have some right conversations. Pub is 5 mins walk down the lane. It's not operating at it's best due to the pandemic and takes around 20 mins to get a drink but it's a nice place with friendly staff. Corwen town waste of time, smashing Chinese though we left a menu. So overall it was fine for our family of 5, we had a great week and after all this is a charity cottage so your doing your bit...

The Corn Store is an amazing venue for your holiday.
I arrived and was prompty text the key code for entry, upon entering it was Immaculately clean. The kitchen had every utensil needed to cook from scratch. It also hosts a washing machine, tumble dryer and dishwasher that again were pristine, they leave dishwasher tablets for you also which was a major plus as I don't have one so buying them would be pointless. It's downstairs is rustic ans cosy, the sofas and chairs were so comfortable to sit on too. The downstairs lavatory was immature too. Upstairs boasts 3 bedrooms one with ensuite, all pristine and every bed was comfortable and excellent made. The back decking has a view of a field and the 1st night there I got to see a Cow have a calf, it was absolutely amazing! There is ample parking at the front also. If I return to North Wales I will 100% rehire this home to stay in. I had an amazing time, and stayed in one day to just chill in comfort as I loved staying here and wanted to enjoy the home. You WONT be disappointed if you choose The Corn Store! The surroundings are phenomenal, it's back to nature in Comfort â¤ï¸
