What our customers say about their holidays

The Parlour is a fantastically unique, rural family stay, but it needs a little more TLC.
The initial impression was what we had pictured, but as we started going about our day we noticed a few things that couldâve made our stay even better! For those who love to cook, as we do, there was a lack of basic utensils provided. The loft bedroom was a fun addition and we expected the stairs to be tricky, but it is hard to explain to a 2 year old to stay away from them! A portable foldable safety gate could be a good option to deter little ones! There was a few cleanliness issues throughout the property, mainly dust build up behind the TVs and other places. For example, we turned the tv to face the kitchen and load of dust fell down onto the floor. Thought it worth a mention for those who suffer from respiratory conditions like asthma. There were also a couple of maintenance problems with the blind in the kitchen, en-suite basin and leaky tap to the family shower. Also the towels were lovely and clean, but rough as cardboard! So might be time to change them. Our little boys loved their daily visits from Doug the Pug, who we think belongs to the owners of the property. He was very funny and looked so cool in his bow tie! For those who arenât overly keen on dogs - be on the look out for Doug, as he loves to come and say hello! Overall, we loved our stay and we believe with these little touch ups that The Parlour will forever be a fantastic family holiday experience for all! Thank you for our stay :)

It was a lovely property, very comfortable and inviting.
The facilities were great and had everything we could have needed, didnât end up using half of the utility things we brought like cloths and cleaning sprays. The oven could have done with a clean as whoever used it last had some overspill that was baked to the bottom and burnt when we used it causing a lot of smoke, had to cook with the extractor on full and doors and windows open. Also the oven didnât cook things fast and could do with a new one. The extra game facilities were very fun and well equipped, we would have liked some outdoor lighting as we visited during the winter months and getting to the other buildings we had to use torches to avoid tripping on the cobbles and manoeuvering cars in that dark was extremely difficult. Our main concern with this property would be the roads on approach as they were single lane and not in great condition, we took to going very slowly as some of the bumps and pot holes were causing our cars to bottom out if we were not careful and on the way back we did have a car die and are not sure if the brutal roads contributed to that however there issues were not the fault of the house just a little warning to others. In summary though we had a wonderful time and would consider visiting again.

We have just returned from a brilliant family holiday at Turnip House.
The cottage itself was lovely and spacious, but also very cosy and comfortable; we loved the combination of the traditional features together with all mod cons. It was spotlessly clean when we arrived and the homemade cakes and fresh flowers were a lovely touch. It was an ideal base for a family holiday, as the children had so much do on the farm itself; they were very excited to feed the pigs and collect eggs from the chickens; they played on the go carts and sandpit and loved all the space to run around. There's loads of land to explore, including a lovely 2 mile circular walk with waterside picnic area and lovely views. The owner Sara was really helpful in suggesting local things to do and on hand to deal with any requests. We had a couple of sessions at the swimming pool, which was stunning, and Sara even organised a local therapist to do hot stone massages for my husband and I in the spa area which was out of this world! We really couldn't fault the place and would love to go back again. Thanks Sara for making our stay so lovely

We could not find any information sheet showing - the nearest medical facilities, recycling facilities, ATM, Petrol, Vets, Church, Supermarket, Post Office, Park & Ride, etc.
WE HAD NO VISIT BY THE OWNERS DURING OUR STAY. Early doors, we made contact with the owners, by mobile phone, about the appalling wi-fi but nothing was done. The situation of the property needs to be emphasised that access is by a single-lane, poorly maintained. road which is also used by farm vehicles, commercial vehicles as well as residents, dog walkers, and pedestrians. On property maintenance, the sugar caddy contained solidified contents, the tea container had 2 two Earl Grey tea bags and one teabag of doubtful origin. The coffee container had 3 coffee bags on top of some instant coffee granules, again of doubtful origin. Apart from a smart TV, there was no CD or DVD player. 'Attention to detail' would be my watchword. Oh, I couldn't find the carbon monoxide alarm recommended on the last 2023 central heating boiler service sheet, found in the kitchen. I am/ we are NOT mystery shoppers, just Jo Public with reasonably wide experience of using self-catering both here, and in the. USA, Canada, and Western Europe.

We had a lovely time staying at The Parlour.
.it is in a lovely quiet secure area. The Parlour has been done to a high spec and there is a lot more facilities than an average caravan...the hob is amazing and the oven is great to..we had a little problem with the washing machine but Stuart arrived quickly and fixed it for us...The only negatives is that there was a lot of cobwebs there and the skirting boards in the main bathroom hasn't been cleaned...there is a vacuum and sweeping brush there so I cleaned them...also even though the main bedroom is luxurious the other 2 bedrooms aren't great for adults...the bottom bunk is a few inches off the floor and not easy to get in and out of if your an older adult or for someone with disabilities...I found the stairs ok but other members of the family didn't but the beds upstairs are very comfortable but the room isn't ideal for tall people ...the showers are amazing though and the under floor heating is excellent...I would recommend The Parlour to others.
