  I had the most delightful stay at this charming three-bedroom cottage in Whitby. First and foremost, the location is amazing. The balcony provides stunning panoramic views of Whitby Harbour – from the sea and both piers on the left, all the way around past the Abbey, to the bustling town on the right. The location of the cottage allows for easy exploration of Whitby, as it's within walking distance of most attractions. I thoroughly enjoyed strolling through the town and its enchanting back alleys. I'm always stumbling upon new and intriguing places I haven't seen before. Inside, the cottage is cosy, well-equipped and heated well, ensuring a comfortable stay. The charm of this place is amplified by its original features, giving it a unique character. Now, I must mention the quaint challenge of navigating steep stairs and steps around the cottage – a testament to its historical roots. It may be challenging for some. However, for me, it only added to the overall charm, reminiscent of the authentic feel of old cottages and it's what to expect in old buildings. Parking, though not directly outside due to the narrow one-way street, is conveniently solved with the provided permit for nearby parking. A small inconvenience easily overshadowed by the location and amazing views! Thank you for providing such a wonderful retreat.

  Comfortable and cosy cottage with everything you need. We didn’t receive a welcome pack but probably as we booked the afternoon the day before. Loo roll would have been appreciated though!! I spent my childhood in holt & this cottage is in a great location - it’s quiet even though near main Norwich road. Great to have parking - reversing out takes care it’s easier when the 2 other spaces are empty! We weren’t bothered by too many people walking down the lane to access Budgens (so handy for bobbing out to) via the gate or looking in from the other cottages at the back from their outdoor seating. Guess privacy might be an issue if all cottages were full. Holt has some fantastic pubs and restaurants. Try ‘meadowsweet’ a few doors down if you want a blow out. Honestly the best Michelin starred restaurant I’ve eaten in. Good lunch deals. Byfords being refurbed to be all restaurant space with no deli or take out so that’ll be missed. The coast is just a few miles away. The cottage is a perfect base to explore everything north Norfolk has to offer.

  The cottage was clean and tidy but was surprised the kitchen was so small.

  I was disappointed with the welcome pack, obviously bought from some supplier to hospitality - little sealed packs of coffee, tea, milk and biscuits as found in hotel bedrooms. My usual experience is cottages is lovely baskets of wine, crisps biscuits etc - something that looks like a bit of thought has been put into it. The same with the box of cleaning products - I didn’t know it was possible to get such a tiny bottle of washing up liquid ( probably contained a tablespoon of liquid). When you pay a lot of money for a cottage it is nice to have some effort put into the nice little extras that are the norm in most cottages. No visitors book in the cottage, which is always useful for recommendations on where to eat etc. Alnmouth itself was lovely- beautiful beach and nice dog friendly local eatery’s. However I wouldn’t consider returning to this cottage as I felt it was overpriced for what was actually provided.

  We had an amazing time at Borough House. A great house in the middle of the old part of town but tucked away from the crowds and noise. We loved being able to step out to the shops and explore without having to use the car. We had great weather and most days would eat our lunches overlooking the harbour - just a stone's throw from the front door. The beds are very comfortable with excellent linen and everywhere was incredibly clean and tidy. The rooms are very large - given the position of the house. The bathroom is up some stairs - but not much more than at home. My 86 year old Mum managed ok. We are all a little fitter than we were - which is a good thing! I highly recommend Borough House. Thank you for a great stay - and the wonderful welcome basket!

  Lovely cottage in a fabulous location, considering it’s in town it was very peaceful, my only issue was the double bed, very uncomfortable and so I ended up in the twin room after the first 2 nights but understand beds are very subjective, supermarket was just through the gate so very handy, lots of places to visit within a half hour drive, parking wasn’t an issue for us as the third car decided to park elsewhere so we just reversed in everytime and didn’t have an issue, however if you have a big car it could be a problem!! We visited Sheringham on the steam train, a couple of NT properties, Cley next the Sea and Cromer. Byfords is fab for breakfast. Didn’t use the outside area as not very private and seating a bit poor.
