What our customers say about their holidays

Lovely comfortable house however a few things certainly not to luxury standard ….

. Most kitchen utensils needed cleaning again, for example egg flip/kitchen turner still had food on it, yuk, as did the whisk and some cutlery!!! Cutlery was grubby, spoon tray was stained but easily cleaned(by ourselves), grill shelf (not tray) greasy & no egg cups and a distinct lack of glasses considering the house sleeps 8. Great idea to have an extra fridge but the handle is snapped so is a pain to open. Old pair of socks (not ours) found in ground floor bedroom drawers and thrown away!! (Rather nasty!!) Nice house but would never return and not to a “luxury” standard, more like posh Hoseasons. Just as a side note whilst the house is very comfortable the ground floor bathroom (size of a cupboard) is at the other end of the house to the ground floor bedroom which is not really a problem but not ideal and probably due to the limitations of conversion of an old farmhouse. It’s a nice standard of living that the house now enjoys with some lovely views. The outside space at the secluded end is very nice. Sykes photos do show the sides of the converted stables/cattle sheds which other people holiday in, they are very close to the front door of this house. If you’re looking for seclusion it’s not for you. Internet wifi when available was good but was not reliable, perhaps just coincidence that it was often not available during poor weather if this is important to you. 3/4G service is good. TV’s are not smart which is rather old technology if you rely on streaming services, possible due to unreliable internet.

I have very mixed feelings about this property.

We’ve had a lovely stay in a lovely part of Wales. The barn is lovely, previous negative reviews about a lack of glasses or crockery have obviously been addressed and there is plenty of everything. The outdoor facilities are excellent, there is a walk through the woods, electric gates, a full recycling area, and lots that really makes this barn and the stay special. The draw back for me, is it feels very much like business, with no home touches to make you feel at home. We’ve gone away twice a year as a family for about 10 years, and this is the first time there’s been nothing in the house when you get in, no pint of milk in the fridge, no salt or pepper at all, no welcome pack, limited information pack (we didn’t know where the bins were till we were leaving and had all our recycling stacked up on a worktop), absolutely no check out instructions leaving us unsure what was expected of us on the last day. These little things would genuinely make it a 10/10 stay, as the facilities and the barn are lovely. The cleanliness was adequate, the barn felt very clean and tidy when we arrived, however some of the linen and towels were stained, a lot of the glasses were dirty (may have been the fault of the previous tenant) and the outdoor lights weren’t working, although this was fixed on our final evening. All in all, we’ve had a great week, and I would love to come back again. We would just have a much better stay with a little more information and a couple of basic home comforts on hand.

Unfortunately, the experience did not meet the advertised standards of luxury, and I would like to bring several issues to your attention.

Firstly, upon arrival, we discovered a mould problem in the downstairs bedroom, which appeared to be caused by damage to the roof (we took photos). The presence of mould is not only a health hazard but also completely unacceptable in any rental property, let alone one marketed as a luxury accommodation. Additionally, the same bedroom had a broken latch on the door. Moreover, the property's description did not mention that it is part of a site with other properties. This lack of disclosure affected our expectations of privacy and exclusivity, which are typically associated with luxury accommodations. I have since noticed that other guests have written reviews stating that it is misleading not to mention this aspect. We also encountered a problem with the snooker table. One of the snooker cues did not have a tip, leaving us with only one functional cue. This diminished our enjoyment of the amenities that were a key factor in our decision to choose this property. Furthermore, the lack of a tumble drier for a property that accommodates 8 people was challenging. Only one large towel and a hand towel per person and no tumble drier (in Wales where it rained most days) meant that we either couldnt wash the towels or had to wait a couple of days for the towels to dry. The same issue for the hot tub towels. This lack appliance or provision of more towels added to our overall dissatisfaction with the stay. The area was lovely for visiting waterfalls and day trips, which we very much enjoyed.

The views and area are absolutely stunning and just what we were looking for.

Most bedrooms were comfortable and the kitchen was well stocked. However I would not describe this property as luxury. The towels were frayed and were ‘grey’, no longer white. The soap-dispensers are more suited to a hostel type environment. The garden was covered in weeds and not maintained at all! The freezer needs defrosting (we chipped away the ice as best we could) and the dishwasher needs rinse aid. We were 4 single adults so the three ensuite rooms worked well, but the twin room is a considerable distant from a bathroom which meant we had to use the child’s room with a bed not designed for an adult. Overall the property is soulless - no throws, no design, no nice touches and a huge sofa facing a blank wall with a TV. Why not have seating looking out of the windows with a table by the walls.and convert the dining room to an en-suite bedroom? We moved the small chairs to face the window but found one to be broken so had to use a dining room chair. Also I have never stayed at a ‘luxury’ property that does not provide a welcome pack. The property is remote and because of the walks around it I would have thought is more suited to adult stays. We were seeking a bit of luxury with fabulous views and walks; we did get two out of three.

Had a really good week, location whilst remote is fantastic.

Accommodation was as expected. Disappointed with overall cleanliness, house was full of flies, only took me a few minutes to locate the reason why and resolve it. Corners of rooms at ceiling and ground level lots of cobwebs. Bedroom bins above dining room had not been emptied. Toilet seat next to kitchen fitted incorrectly, again, I fixed this fairly easily. Televisions in most rooms not working, internal aerial reconnected to upstairs bedroom, appreciate the house is probably in a bad reception area, but smart tvs are affordable especially considering the rental cost. Would like to have access to an ice maker in the freezer, and there was no potato masher. On a positive note, nice to have a few provisions for the kitchen, along with a supply of toilet paper. Overall we enjoyed our family holiday, the underfloor heating is a bonus, nice touch with the Xmas tree and oodles of space for a family gathering. Would be good if you could remove the swim shorts from the bush near the hot tub that someone has kindly thrown there. Hot tub once heated is easy to keep warm although it does take at least 2 crates to heat the water. We used 7 crates for a 6 day stay, which when paying extra needs to be factored in to the overall cost of the property.
