  A Perfect Birthday Getaway!

  The Spitfire Lodge is an exceptional retreat—a hidden gem and an ideal destination for a couples' getaway. The lodge is beautifully decorated to a high standard and maintained impeccably. The facilities are outstanding, leaving us wanting for nothing. The kitchen is fully equipped with every utensil, pot, pan, piece of crockery, glassware, and gadget one could possibly need. We were also delighted by the thoughtful welcome hamper, which included biscuits, chocolates, crisps, and brioche rolls, along with fresh milk in the fridge and a selection of tea and coffee. A particularly thoughtful touch was the inclusion of ketchup and brown sauce, which we had forgotten for our breakfast. The private hot tub and sauna were standout features, providing the ultimate relaxation, while the log fire added a cozy and inviting atmosphere—perfect for chilly winter evenings. Generous supplies of logs and firelighters were provided, ensuring a hassle-free experience. Lisa and Carl are exceptional hosts—attentive yet unobtrusive—striking the perfect balance to create a truly private and relaxing stay. Their communication prior to our visit was clear, helpful, and informative, making the entire experience seamless. Thank you for sharing this beautiful hideaway with us.   The Hayloft was perfect for a relaxing getaway.

  Really attentive hosts, we arrived to find milk, bread, and cake left for us which was incredibly thoughtful. We spent every evening in the hot tub, just enjoying the peace. Some of the towels left for us were stained which was disappointing, but overall the cleanliness was good, and the bedroom is so gorgeous. The pub across the road is so friendly, with an unexpectedly large vegetarian menu. I spent all week drinking whinberry gin, so lovely! We took our dogs for beautiful walks right on the doorstep, no need to drive anywhere. Such a lovely area. We fully utilised having the shop across the road, and again were pleasantly surprised at how well stocked it was and the variety of products. We were, however, quite shocked to walk in one day to hear a conversation between a shopkeeper and some locals that was transphobic and quite homophobic. It was made even worse when they tried to include us in this derogatory conversation. Though this has nothing to do with the holiday property, it may be worth noting if you're planning a stay. Again, this is of no fault to the hosts; we loved staying at the Hayloft and were sad for our holiday to end. We had such a great time

  Not happy at all with this property.

  Central heating was abysmal, was constantly switching off due to the boiler switch being flicked overnight. This occurred every night we stayed. I specifically requested the hot tub area to be prepared for use upon arrival, hot tub was prepared but there was no garden light whatsoever so hot tub was rendered useless at night time. No TV in the bedroom, had to borrow the TV from the living room. Toilet seat was cracked, and bathroom was too cold to use at times due to the central heating issue. I booked my stay for 7 nights, but cut it short to just 4 nights because of the terrible experience - requested a full refund from the owner but that was denied - was only compensated less than half of what I originally paid for the booking (even though the property owner constantly had to come and sort out the heating issue) so was not happy at all about the experience overall. I will never be booking here again, and I would never recommend anybody to stay here (unless you like living in a fridge-freezer). Horrible, horrible experience. 0/10.

  We had a fantastic week staying in this gorgeous cottage.

  It is spacious, beautifully designed and equipped with absolutely everything you need to make your stay comfortable. The views of the surrounding countryside are breathtaking, a very peaceful haven after a day of exploring. The Hay Loft is adjoined to the owner's property however they are in no way imposing, they are very friendly, welcoming and happy to help. There is also a privacy fence so you don't feel on view when sat outside or in the hot tub. The hot tub was a very welcoming extra & well maintained. There are many walks in the area & lots of great pubs & restaurants to choose from. Bridgnorth itself is lovely, we particularly loved the Fat Olive Tapas, the food was amazing! We would definitely recommend & would return again in the future!

  Just spent a wonderful week in this lovely cottage.

  Superb rural, peaceful location. Very well equipped, clean, cozy cottage. Outdoor seating very comfortable and as the weather was nice I spent alot of time outside enjoying the view. Big garden ideal for the dogs to chase each other. Relaxing in the hot tub in the evening was very peaceful. Easy access to Shropshire way. Close to Clun which has a spa shop. Not to far from Ludlow, which is lovely to wander around and Mortimer forest has some lovely walks. Leintwardine has a lovely chip shop, the fiddler's elbow, which is gluten free and has vegetarian and vegan options. It's a 20 minute drive, but can pre order online to collect and then sit and eat by the river. This is one cottage I would definitely return to again.
