What our customers say about their holidays

We stayed in Pitt cottage recently and we had the most wonderful time.
The cottage is in a stunning location and the views are picture perfect. It is in the middle of a working farm which was lovely and we felt that the owners were involved and present in the running of everything. They seem involved with the cottage / bunker and also the cafe / carpark down at the bottom. It felt like a real local community which we thought was genuinely lovely. The cottage was spotless and considering they cater to dogs I didnât sneeze once which is something I always struggle with when having to book dog friendly accommodation as Iâm terribly allergic to pet hair (apart from my own). Usually dog hairs stick to fabric on the sofas and carpets even after cleaning but they must keep on top of it all really well, most importantly there were no doggy smells so I knew it had been cleaned regularly. The kitchen, bedrooms and bathrooms were really clean and we had everything provided that we needed such as towels, appliances etc. Some people have previously moaned saying the carpets are grubby but please note that they are CREAM and they allow dogs into the property. Yes you can see some areas where people have walked over time as with any flooring but they were extremely clean and well maintained, Iâm not sure what people expect but I think theyâve been very unfair to comment that some areas are âgrubbyâ. It is not. Lovely short walk to the beach and even nicer walk back from the pub along the coast line. There are shops approx 10-15 minutes drive away and plenty of things to do in the surrounding areas. A really great location and experience with lots of dog walks and scenery. I would really like to see more updated pictures on the booking site for the cottage as I donât think the current pictures do it justice at all or show how nice the setting is. I think better quality pictures would be beneficial but thatâs merely a personal preference, it would definitely be the deciding factor for me when choosing between properties if I could see the view from the bedroom for example. We would definitely go back without hesitating, thanks for a great stay.

Pitt cottage is a lovely building and setting but I really do have to point out a couple of things which I would hope are easily fixed so that it comes up to scratch: 1.
Cleanliness: in general good all round BUT not properly clean which was a bit uncomfortable to live in. Cobwebs, dirty corners and dirty skirting boards, staircase etc. I wonder if a better hoover would help prevent this? The one there is heavy and cumbersome to use. It doesnât allow one to get into the nooks and crannies, or the stairs/skirting boards etc 2. In the sitting room, the sofas and carpet smells of dogs. Again, quite uncomfortable to live with and a scented candle didnât help despot our efforts. It could possibly benefit from a new sofa and carpet as these felt like they were holding the dog smells in and possibly replace with upholstery with fabric which is a bit more dog smell âresistant/washableâ? Some curtains falling off their rails. 3. The kitchen was a bit dated but still perfectly functional Upstairs was good and the whole place was lovely and cosy but a bit tired in some areas. I really hope my feedback is taken in the way it is intended (helpful honest feedback), the place overall is lovely, so some few improvements and a little investment would give it what it merits. Thank you for letting us stay

The cottage is located in a perfect position overlooking the sea.
It is quiet and peaceful. However on arrival we were taken aback when we entered the sitting room. The carpet was shockingly dirty. It gave us a instant feeling of a dirty house, which it is not. There was a stained and burnt rug in front of the fire which could easily be removed and Iâm sure a Henry carpet cleaner could address the carpet although I suspect it has been left too late. Maybe a wood or stone floor would be a good investment. The kitchen was bright and clean and we appreciated having tea, coffee and milk. Thank you Upstairs was spacious and pretty but sadly the headboard was badly stained on one side. Probably better to loose it all together as no one wants to sleep where someoneâs head sweat stain is. The bed was very comfortable once we had covered the stain with pillows. We used the main bathroom as the en-suite had a strong unpleasant smell of drains. With a little tweak Pitt Cottage is a dream location. I really hope the owners can see it with fresh eyes and our comments as constructive criticism as it is very sad when first impressions have such a negative impact.

Overall fantastic location and we had a good stay. Things to note for other guests, the driveway is extremely narrow and was unable to get out of the vehicle each side which caused issues loading/unloading the car, had to park at the bottom of the driveway. The downstairs shower room has a high step so anyone with mobility issues may struggle I had to help my mum in and out each morning. The TV was a little intermittent and unable to load Netflix wouldn't normally bother us if it was summer but was a bit annoying as we stayed over Christmas and had dark nights so wanted to use TV in the evening. The dishwasher had a fault and tripped out the electric on Christmas eve I called both Original Cottages and Dorset managed services and they resolved the issue by calling out an electrician who was there within the hour, they were fantastic! Would stay again if the shower was updated and made accessible as overall we were very comfy and the location is stunning. Look out for the amazing sunsets, the welcome goodies were a nice touch.

Beautifully presented cottage which also included extra touches to make us feel welcome.
Great fun waking up to outside the properties garden we were surrounded by cows as the cottage is in the middle of a working farm. The cows were friendly and were not worried by us walking through the field . If you want a place to run away to total peace so you can just listen to nature. Lovely quite shingled beach. We walked some of the coastal path from the cottage to the smugglers inn pub. I would say you had to be a confident Walker to do the walks as lots of hills. We took my mother who enjoyed the time to just stop. Short drive to Lulworth cove had lunch at the castle pub. Friendly staff and good food. Our favourite place to eat was the crab cafe Weymouth . But be ready for the traffic to get there as itâs just off the road to Portland. My husband says he wished he had taken a kayak. Parking in the beach carport was £6 for the day , so best to walk there if you can. The farm shop by the petrol station was a good source of supplies but a 5/10 drive and open 10-4 pm
