The self-proclaimed Queen of the Staffordshire Moorlands, this town is unspoilt, unashamed and we feel a rather under-appreciated. From esteemed choirs to dazzling theatre productions, Arts festivals to art centres, Leek boasts quite the high-art community. It's perfect for a relaxing weekend break not too far south, where cosy tea rooms, Peak District terrain and lovingly vintage high streets come together as one. And if you're not already persuaded, this market town happens to have a market for every occasion. Get there on a Wednesday for their Outdoor General Charter Market, full of local produce and outdoor essentials, or head for the indoor markets on Wednesdays, Fridays and Saturdays just off Market Place. As well as this, there are weekly craft and antique markets, and the infamous fine food market, guaranteed to make your mouth water.
