About this property

Sweeping panoramic Aegean Sea views are waiting to welcome you when you stay at Villa Polaris. The villa is set in a small luxury property complex, near the exclusive resort of Agios Nikolaos, in north east Crete, in the heart of the Aegean Sea. This elegant two bedroom, two bathroom, two storey villa, has commanding views over the beautiful Mirabello Bay, and is within walking distance of the town and stretches of long sandy beaches. Villa Polaris can comfortably accommodate up to five guests, ideal for a small family or couples sharing. The villa comes with its own dedicated parking space, complimentary Wi-Fi, and a heating and cooling air conditioning system throughout. This award-winning complex has been designed with meticulous attention to detail, including luxury interiors, and state of the art modern technology.

Enter the villa at ground floor level, where floor to ceiling sliding doors of the light and airy open plan living space, lead out onto the pool terrace with a stunning sea view. The seating area consists of a large comfy sofa, and matching arm chairs, arranged around coffee and side tables, and a bookcase with the latest best sellers, facing a flat screen television, and an open log fire for those cooler evenings. The charming dining area has a round wooden table and four upholstered classic chairs for some impressive formal indoor entertaining. The adjacent wood and white kitchen has everything you will need to cater for your holiday, including a four ring hob and cooker hood, a family sized fridge freezer, a dishwasher and washing machine, and that must-have morning coffee maker. For those that don’t intend to spend their holiday cooking in the kitchen, your concierge can arrange to have breakfast served to you in villa at an extra cost, now we think that really is a very special value-added treat. Go one step further and book a chef for the evening meal too, imagine all of those local Cretan delicacies dished up and served to you in your own villa.

The first floor is home to two spacious ensuite double bedrooms. The master bedroom has a king size bed, dressed in soft whites and sea blues, with a matching arm chair, fitted wardrobes, bedside tables, and an antique style armoire. The ensuite marble bathroom has a walk-in shower, double hand basins, and a WC. The floor to ceiling doors open onto a sea view balcony, where you can enjoy breakfast as the sun rises and cocktails as the sun sets. The second bedroom is a twin room with two single beds, decorated in delicate beiges and creams, bedside tables, a chest of drawers and wardrobes, with an ensuite marble bathroom and separate shower cabinet. The bedroom also benefits from a stunning sea view soft furnished balcony with views over the bay.

Access the tiled terrace via the sliding doors of the living space, where you will find a ladder entry swimming pool, surrounded by steamer style wooden sunbeds with cream cushions, and shady parasols. Soft seating takes up strategic positions for the best sea views, just right for relaxing with a book, sipping a morning coffee, or enjoying an evening aperitivo. Take a seat at the outside dining area, a contemporary wooden table with cream coloured director’s chairs, and enjoy some alfresco eating with a view of the bay as the evening lights of the town come out to play.

Villa Polaris is ideally located on the north east side of the beautiful island of Crete, betwixt and between Heraklion international airport, just sixty kilometres away, and the domestic and charter destination Sitei, sixty five kilometres distance. You will find Villa Polaris in the coastal town of Agios Nikolaos, named after Saint Nicholas, the patron saint of sailors, set in the inviting Mirabello Gulf, with views of the bay.

The villa is located within a small exclusive nine luxury property complex, and comes with membership of the Domes of Elounda, which includes access to private beaches, a kid’s club, and use of the creche. Keep fit on holiday with complimentary use of the on-site gym, sauna and steam room. The villa is within walking distance of the nearest sandy beaches and the welcoming crystal clear waters of the Aegean Sea.

The complex concierge can arrange private excursions including chartering a luxury yacht to sail the local seas, car hire for you to explore the island at your leisure, or even a bike, when you can take to two wheels and get some exercise whilst discovering the local flora and fauna. Don’t miss a visit to the local Cretan Olive Oil Farm, sample the delights of the annual harvest and take a bottle of the golden nectar home with you. Crete is populated with historic sites and sights, for the archaeologists, nearby is Gournia, or for the more spiritually inclined, Faneromeni Monastery is well worth a visit. Drive to the Dikte Mountains to discover a bit of Byzantine culture, most especially the Church of Panagiakera with its beautiful thirteenth century frescoes.

Take a trip into town and wander the ancient streets of Agios Nikolaos where you will find inviting shops selling local crafts, take sanctuary in its twenty eight churches, and find peace and quiet in the seven monasteries. Discover Cretan culture in the Folk Art Museum, full of textiles, pottery, furniture and religious iconography. Have fun admiring contemporary street art as you climb the Spirit of the Stairs. In the heart of the town lies Lake Voulismeni, once believed to be bottomless, it is actually sixty four metres deep at the centre and home to the statues of Athena and Artemis. Further afield you can explore the Cave of Zeus, where the king of the Greek gods was hidden by his mother Rhea and nourished by the goat Almathea.

For lovers of luxury head out to the town of Elounda, stroll down streets selling exclusive designer brands, and stop in cosy tavernas where you can star-spot over coffee. From Elounda take the ferry to the island of Spinalonga, once a former leper colony until as recently as 1957, now turned into an open-air museum, with its ancient fortifications, and a sixteenth century Venetian fortress, it was made famous in the book The Island by Victoria Hislop, and is now used for many a film set. For those of you who want to adventure further afield join a guided tour to see the Richtis Waterfall, the sunken city of Olous, the Palace of Knossos, and the city of Heraklion where you can learn all about Minoan and Cretan history and culture. Whatever you do with a stay at Villa Polaris, there is something to suit all tastes and activities for everyone.
