Guests say

Lanes Cottage in Chipping Campden is highly praised for its cleanliness, prime location, and cosy comfort. Guests appreciate the well-equipped kitchen, comfortable beds, and the beautiful garden. The cottage's charm and proximity to local amenities make it an ideal base for exploring the Cotswolds. While some guests mention minor issues with parking and stairs, the overall sentiment is overwhelmingly positive, with many expressing a desire to return.

Guests consistently describe the cottage as very clean, with several reviews specifically mentioning the cleanliness. This indicates a high standard of cleanliness that guests are satisfied with.

The location is frequently highlighted as excellent, with the cottage being in close proximity to local shops, pubs, and restaurants. Its position is also ideal for exploring the Cotswolds, contributing to a very high location score.

Comfort is well-regarded, with guests finding the beds comfortable and the cottage cosy, especially by the fire. However, a few guests mentioned the second bedroom being small and the toilet area cramped for taller individuals, slightly lowering the score.

Facilities are generally praised, including a well-appointed kitchen and a real fireplace. However, some guests noted the lack of wardrobe space in one bedroom and the absence of a bathroom upstairs. There were also comments about the provision of toilet paper and firewood, suggesting room for improvement.

Several guests were delighted by thoughtful touches such as cake and coffee on arrival. However, as these gifts are not guaranteed for every stay, and not all reviews mention them, the score reflects appreciation while acknowledging variability.

This market town defines the saying "good things come in small packages" as it proves itself to be a wonderful place for tourists to stay. Chipping Campden sits in the northern part of the Cotswolds and boasts many historical buildings from St. James' church where the Chipping Camden Music Festival is held every year, to the early 17th century market hall upon which the town prides itself. Not only does the town have a rich history but much more, the high street is laced with charming Cotswold stone buildings with a range of shops and pubs. Nearby there are several beautiful, formal gardens for you to wander through. Chipping Campden has held its own 'Olimpick Games' since the early 1600s including peculiar sports such as 'shin-kicking', most certainly worth lining your holiday up with to experience something so unique. For a dose of famous history, head to the birthplace of William Shakespeare in Stratford-upon-Avon just 12 short miles away, it offers some charming little buildings, bookshops, theatres and museums.

Very comfortable beds & good location.

However it was closer to the road and hence traffic was busy at times. Parking was a slight issue as several of the neighbours clearly had their own parking spots in the lay-by either side so you were left with trying to find a spot on the road. However this aside the cottage was beautiful and we had a very relaxing holiday and would thoroughly recommend a stay.

It would be nice to find some way of providing some hanging/storage for the small back bedroom as my son and his partner just lived out of their rucksacks. Also, a pair of scales for the kitchen would be great. Guessing when cooking rice and pasta is a bit haphazard! We had a lovely time, though, and absolutely loved the garden. Thank you!
