South Hill Farmhouse is a well-received holiday rental, praised for its spaciousness, well-equipped kitchens, and comfortable furnishings. The large garden and games room are highlights, particularly for children and pets. The property's suitability for large groups and its proximity to Stow-on-the-Wold are appreciated, though some guests noted the busy road location.
Most guests found the property clean and comfortable, but a few mentioned issues with cobwebs and cleanliness not being up to the mark in some rooms. The presence of woodlice in one of the top floor rooms was also noted.
The property's proximity to Stow-on-the-Wold and the ability to undertake country walks directly from the property are positive aspects. However, the busy road and the need to cross it to access the town and footpaths have been a concern for some guests.
The majority of guests found the farmhouse comfortable, with special mentions of the cosy lounges, wood burners, and the well-received garden. Some guests noted issues with heating and the suitability of furniture for elderly guests.
The farmhouse is well-equipped for large groups, with ample kitchenware, two dishwashers, and a games room. Some guests suggested improvements in maintenance, such as better fencing for pets and clearer instructions for heating. The lack of a wardrobe in the master bedroom was also mentioned.
While some guests were delighted with the welcome hamper, the contents and presentation of the welcome gifts varied, and there were no consistent mentions across the reviews to accurately assess the thoughtfulness of such gestures. Therefore, it cannot be guaranteed that such gifts will be provided.
South Hill Farmhouse (22) is an enormous Grade Two Listed holiday home capable of accommodating up to 22 people in spacious surroundings. Once a local farmhouse, the property has been converted to provide 11 bedrooms and a wealth of bathrooms making it perfect for large family or group gatherings looking to enjoy the Cotswolds and Stow on the Wold. The owners have ensured that all elements for a large party have been considered: a large Dining Room , vast Living Room and a separate games room make it perfect for a relaxing and enjoyable break. The house is located on the Fosse Way, (this is the infamous main road between Cirencester and Stow)approx 5 mins from the heart of the heart of the market town of Stow on the Wold. The quality touches are evident throughout - Farrow and Ball colours, Robert Welch cutlery and Denby crockery all add to the appeal of this large holiday home. An excellent choice for a memorable get-together. (N.B. Details of extra activities available at the farmhouse at bottom of description.)
The highest town in the Cotswolds, Stow-on-the-Wold, originally an Iron Age Fort, epitomises olde worlde England. This ancient market town has played host to many fairs since the 12th century and today holds a biannual Gypsy Horse Fair, craft fairs and monthly Farmers' market. The Stow Horse Fair is held twice a year, on the Thursday closest to 12th May and the Thursday closest to 24th October, this is a traditional fair for people to meet up and trade which dates back to 1476 when its Charter was granted; Stow is very busy for a day or two before and after each fair, and a number of shops, pubs and restaurants are closed. The vast market square boasts an ancient cross at one end and the village stocks at the other, surrounded by an elegant array of Cotswold stone townhouses, antique shops, tea rooms, traditional pubs, award-winning restaurants and its very own cricket museum.

The house is so spacious, comfortable and well equipped we wanted for nothing. There was a lovely welcome hamper of local goodies, thank you. There was ample parking on the drive and a large secure garden at the rear of the property. The only real negative is the road, which we were aware of when we booked having read previous reviews. Our suggestion would be donât try to do a right turn in or out of the property, but drive on a short distance to where there is an easy junction to make the turn and then go back! We found communication with the management company good, and they were helpful over access and departure times. They also kept us informed as, prior to our arrival, there had been a problem with the boiler. This was being dealt with, but meant the central heating in a few rooms wasnât working. However the alternative provision of plug in radiators for those rooms meant we experienced no issues. We would definitely recommend this accommodation and would use it again.

Would not book again on that basis but otherwise a great place for large groups.

Lounges are really good. If you were cooking for 22 people the ovens available are small but adequate. The dining room is fantastic and the available crockery and glasses are more than adequate. The only real criticism is that the windows could do with a clean. Overall very good
