At this charming 200-year-old Cotswold stone cottage, with its original features and a pretty south-west facing courtyard garden, a relaxing break awaits you. Situated in the thriving hilltop town of Minchinhampton, an historic Cotswold market town with an award-winning pub, fish and chip shop, two coffee shops, independent butcher, post office and general store. Within walking distance of Minchinhampton Common (600 acres of National Trust common land and a Site of Special Scientific Interest) and within easy reach of beautiful open countryside.
This beautiful Cotswold stone cottage, elegantly furnished with a seamless blend of contemporary and antique furniture, is ideally located just a short walk from the market square in Minchinhampton. The sitting room is decorated in soft colours with a cosy wood burning stove and an exposed stone fireplace. To the rear you will find a separate dining room, with seating for four guests and a modern, light filled kitchen, which is well-equipped to prepare some delicious meals. Bi-fold doors lead out to a private courtyard garden oasis with a seating area and charcoal barbecue. Up on the first floor you will find two double bedrooms with plush feather bedding with soft cloud pillows to ensure a good night's sleep and a bathroom with a large bath and a separate shower cubicle, perfect for soaking muscles after long walks in the countryside. Climb the further flight of cottage stairs to the second floor to discover a cosy reading snug with exposed timbers and vaulted ceiling.
Set adjacent to Minchinhampton Common, Rock Cottage is a picture-postcard image of what people expect of a small Cotswold town. From its idyllic location, you are well-placed to don your walking boots and explore beautiful surrounding countryside. There are plenty of well-marked footpaths that will take you through the picturesque valleys or, closer by, you have Minchinhampton and Rodborough Commons with their famous golf course and grazing cattle. You will find an array of independent shops, restaurants, pubs, cafés and tourist attractions in the many Cotswold towns, including Stroud (with its highly regarded Saturday Farmers’ Market), Cirencester, Tetbury, Bath and Cheltenham. The area is also well served with a wealth of National Trust properties and gardens, along with the much-loved Westonbirt Arboretum.
