Guests say

Thwaite How is a well-equipped cottage in a stunning location, ideal for exploring the Borrowdale Valley. Guests have enjoyed the comfortable beds, enclosed garden, and proximity to local pubs. The open fire and views are also appreciated. However, parking is noted as challenging and the cottage's cleanliness and space for larger groups have been critiqued.

The cottage received mixed reviews on cleanliness, with one guest finding it not the cleanest, suggesting room for improvement in this area.

The location is highly praised for its beauty and convenience to local attractions and walks, making it a wonderful base for a holiday.

The cottage is generally found to be comfortable, especially for smaller groups, with a cosy open fire and comfy beds, though seating for larger groups and space utilisation is a concern.

Facilities are well-regarded, particularly the well-equipped kitchen, but there are issues with parking, hot water supply, and drying wet gear. The lack of a welcome pack is also noted.

While guests have mentioned the absence of a welcome pack, there are no specific references to gifts or additional thoughtful touches provided by the hosts, so a score cannot be given.

Quaint cottage; accomodation tight for six, particularly kitchen. Stairs need care. Night storage not ideal, and hot water ran out. No good areas for drying wet walking gear. Both waste bins full; can't have been emptied for some weeks. Excellent dog-friendly garden. Good local cafe. Parking and access for cars is poor; village car park does not allow overnight parking, so listing should be amended accordingly. Why not knock down the garage, replacing with car port (there is space for two cars) and extended kitchen.

Very convenient for the tea shop and the lovely walks. Had a lovely time. Thank you. The only drawback was the parking. Really hard to get in and out of the garage and made everything a bit stressful.

  • Alice

We particularly enjoyed watching the garden birds. The parking space is very small
