There is a lot to do here, including boat tours, cruises, and water sports on Lake Windermere itself, as well as a wide variety of stores, eateries, and pubs in the hamlet to satisfy every taste. A little strip of beach and wonderful lake views can be found in the parkland at Waterhead, while a trek through the woods along Stock Ghyll will lead you to the captivating cascade of Stock Ghyll Force. Along with the Lake and the fantastic hiking opportunities, Ambleside is well-known for its yearly rushbearing ritual and the modest 17th-century "Bridge House," which is now the National Trust Information Center and one of the Lake District's most popular photo subjects.

Comfortable, clean and spacious. Situated up a steepish lane with views over Ambleside and the fells behind. It was situated in an elevated position but was a short distance to the town down a footpath. Definitely recommend
